Year 1/2 enjoyed a lovely nature walk around our local environment, where we explored the different plants growing around us.

The children took time to observe the shapes, colours and details of the plants they discovered. They then created their own drawings, carefully looking at the features of each plant. It was a wonderful opportunity to develop our observation skills and appreciate the natural world right on our doorstep!

Our Year 1 and 2 children have been busy exploring the work of a variety of talented artists such as Piet Mondrian and LS Lowry.

They have enjoyed learning about different artistic styles, experimenting with shapes, colours and techniques and recreating their famous pieces. The children have shown fantastic creativity and enthusiasm while developing their confidence and artistic skills along the way!

This week year 1/2 have been writing a very detailed description of Little Bear from the story ‘Can’t sleep Little Bear?’ and the Witch’s House from ‘Hansel and Gretel’.

The pupils first discussed their ideas with their partners then built sentences using ambitious vocabulary. Pupils were extremely proud of their work and some chose to read it out to the class. We have some brilliant writers in year 1/2!
