Our Year 2/3 and Year 3/4 children were fortunate to enjoy a fantastic Sports Day, proudly sponsored by Sports Inspired.

The day was filled with energy, excitement and teamwork, and would not have been possible without the many kind volunteers who came along to help and support the children throughout the event.Pupils had the opportunity to take part in a wide range of exciting activities led by amazing coaches. These included taekwondo, cricket, dance, running, boccia, youth voice and rugby tag. The children showed great enthusiasm, determination and sportsmanship as they moved around each activity and tried new skills.

One of the highlights of the day was seeing every child receive a golden medal for their fantastic participation and effort. We are also very proud to announce that Group 5 won the Spirit Cup for demonstrating outstanding teamwork, encouragement and positivity throughout the day.

A huge thank you goes to all of the coaches, volunteers and organisers who helped make the day such a memorable success for our pupils. Everyone had a wonderful time and created lots of happy memories together!

Solebay Primary Academy is so proud to share the amazing progress of our SEND children in their computing lessons.

They have been taking part in dedicated IT sessions where they've been learning essential digital skills step by step, from logging in and out independently to confidently using devices and exploring different tools and programs. It's been wonderful to see their confidence growing each week.

This progress reflects both their hard work and the patience and dedication of their teacher Paul, who has created such a supportive and encouraging environment. Well done to all our SEND children!

Our school was transformed into a celebration of the world as children arrived dressed in stunning traditional outfits and bright colours representing their heritages.

The children proudly took part in a cultural fashion parade and explored different traditions from around the globe. It has been wonderful to see them celebrate both their individuality and our shared community with such pride.

Year 2/3 Spanish class had fun learning words for different family members through the song Mi Familia by Johana.

They enjoyed matching the actions to the different words as they were singing. After repeating new words in the song, the children were able to say them, independently, with good pronunciation.

We celebrated Maths, Literature and Language Week with an exciting challenge inspired by Ernő Rubik, the Hungarian inventor of the world-famous Rubik’s Cube puzzle!

Using 27 small cubes, with 9 different colours (3 of each), pupils worked mathematically and systematically to solve a tricky problem: how to “build” a Rubik’s Cube with 6 faces, each containing all the colours. The children made hypotheses, tested ideas, spotted patterns and worked collaboratively to find possible solutions. After completing the challenge, pupils reflected on their learning by writing about the process, explaining the strategies they used, the obstacles they faced and how perseverance helped them succeed.

What a fantastic week of problem-solving, creativity and resilience — well done Year 3/4!

In Year 1 the children have been exploring different painting techniques and learning how to mix colours.

They enjoyed experimenting with primary colours to create new shades and used a variety of brush strokes and tools to make interesting patterns and effects. It has been wonderful to see their creativity and confidence grow through their artwork.

They have also been learning and applying addition and subtraction strategies. The children have been using number lines, part-whole models, and practical resources to solve problems and explain their thinking. We are encouraging them to choose efficient strategies and build confidence with number facts.

Well done to everyone for their fantastic effort!

Our Year 2/3 classroom has been transformed into a mini art gallery!

This term, the kids have been exploring portraits, starting with a look at how famous artists capture a face. They’ve been "pattern detectives," identifying different designs and practicing cool new ways to create their own loops, zig-zags, and textures. All that practice really paid off!

The children used their sketching skills to draw brilliant self-portraits, finishing them off with super colourful, patterned backgrounds. It’s been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they move from simple doodles to detailed masterpieces.
