Dear Members,

It is with deep sadness that we write to you today to inform you of the death of our Branch Secretary, Claire Mitham.
Claire was an incredible person, who always wanted to help anyone in need and fought for us all - and her loss is felt by all of us at Middles*x, and we will be taking time to process.
We will be sharing a fuller statement in the next few weeks.

Our thoughts are with Claire’s family and friends at the moment.

We have opened the following page where anyone at Middles*x can leave a memory about Claire, which we will look to share with her family: https://www.remembr.com/en/claire.mitham

A page has been set up by Claire’s friends to help her family towards funeral costs, which can be found here: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/kerry-ingram?utm_term=NAXYvq2dw

We appreciate this news is incredibly upsetting and that a lot of you were extremely close to Claire.

Transgender Day of Remembrance - UNISON South West 20/11/2020

On this day of Transgender Day of Remembrance, we honour and take a moment of silence for the trans, non-binary and gender diverse people we lost this past year.

In the past 12 months, at least 350 trans and gender-diverse people were reported killed globally. Of the reported killings worldwide, s*x workers and migrants make up the majority of victims. It is important that these lives are remembered and celebrated.

If you need to talk over the weekend please text MERMAIDS to 85258 to reach 's crisis text line, 24/7

Or call on 116 123 for 24/7 support.
