Today, British MP Rushanara Ali and the Acting High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Dr. M. Nazrul Islam, had an insightful meeting at the Palace of Westminster.
The two held a productive and wide-ranging discussion focused on further consolidating relationship between Bangladesh and the UK, including the vital role of the British-Bangladeshi diaspora and the global geopolitical situation that is impacting both the countries.

Today, Honâble Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, Her Excellency Ms. Afroza Khanam, MP, visited Heathrow International Airport, where she inspected the ground handling and passenger service facilities provided by Menzies Aviation. During the visit, she gathered firsthand insights and best practices that could help further enhance service standards at the Airports in Bangladesh.
The Honâble Minister later visited the Biman Bangladesh Airlines office in London, reviewed its operations and customer service, and provided valuable guidance to strengthen service delivery and operational excellence.
Acting High Commissioner Dr Nazrul Islam accompanied the Honâble Minister during the visits.
Subsequently, Her Excellency visited the Bangladesh High Commission in London, where she met with officers and staff, exchanged views on ongoing activities, and offered strategic directions to consolidate the bilateral ties and to excel services to the Bangladeshi diaspora.

Yesterday in London, Hon'ble Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority - BIDA, Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, held a series of productive meetings with Sir Chris Bryant MP, UK Minister of State for Trade at the Department for Business and Trade; Baroness Rosie Winterton, UK Trade Envoy to Bangladesh; and Mr. Oriel Petry, Senior Vice President for Government Affairs at Airbus UK. Acting High Commissioner Dr Nazrul Islam was present in the meetings.
The discussions focused on expanding trade and investment cooperation between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom, with particular emphasis on attracting greater British investment into Bangladesh's rapidly growing economy. The meetings highlighted Bangladesh's ongoing economic transformation, investment-friendly reforms, and the significant opportunities available across sectors including manufacturing, infrastructure, aviation, renewable energy, technology, and services.

Bangladesh has been unanimously elected as a member of the Executive Committee (ExCo) of the Commonwealth Board of Governors for the term 2026-28.
The Commonwealth Executive Committee comprises of sixteen members of which eight are the highest contributing member states and the other eight are elected from the four regions.
Bangladesh has been elected a member of the Executive Committee (EC) from Asia-Europe region at the Commonwealth Board of Governors meeting held today at the Commonwealth Secretariat, London. Acting High Commissioner Dr Nazrul Islam representated Bangladesh in the Board meeting.
The Executive Committee is mandated to oversee all matters related to finance, personnel and administration of the Commonwealth Secretariat. The committee also makes policy recommendations for the Commonwealth Board of Governors.
The Committee scrutinizes membership of the new and accredited organizations (AOs) of the Commonwealth. â
Bangladeshâs unanimous election to the Executive Committee (ExCo) reflects its deep commitment, active contributions, and strong leadership within the Commonwealth. Notably, the Commonwealth was the first international organization Bangladesh joined following its independence.
