At Ascent we believe in enriching and empowering young lives through various activities. Therefore, we were thrilled to have had the opportunity to organise and take a number of our young people on an adventure of a lifetime to Camp Botswana in the October half term.

Keeping families together and creating stability of our children and young people is fundamental to the work we do at Ascent. Sonia has been instrumental in helping us to achieve this by providing support, love and nurture to both her long term placements and short term emergency placements. To celebrate Ascent’s 10th Anniversary we took to the skies with the help of Virgin Balloon Flights. What an awesome adventure. We were so happy that carers that have been with us in the early days were able to join us for this experience.
Ascent has grown in the past 10 years not only in numbers, but more importantly in knowledge and scope of the work we conduct on a day-to-day basis to help support and nurture the young people and foster carers. We have been so lucky over the years to be surrounding by amazing people who have helped shape and develop the agency, which is now rated "outstanding " by Ofsted and holds a "platinum" level from Investors in People.
Our commitment for the next 10 years is to our continued learning and growth in order to ensure young people within our community have safe, loving and nurturing homes.

Communication is key! It's surprising where conversations can take you, and as Sharon has found out over the years, she has learnt so much from the young people in her care. It's essential for our children to be listened to and heard in order for them to grow.

Rose recalls the time they look their foster children to Brazil, for 45 days, what an amazing experience that started right there at the airport getting on plane. The excitement was tangible.

The smallest of gestures mean so much, Michelle recalls the times she has had teenagers hug her and thank her for everything she has done, this inspires and motivates Michelle to continue to doing the work she does so well.

Manoel shares his fond memory of the road trip he took together with another foster family and their children, the fun they had and how well the kids got on way great to see. This will forever be etched in his memory. The great outdoors is a fantastic place for children to understand the world around them.
