🎶🇬🇧 What a fantastic evening at Proms on the Pitch! 🇬🇧🎺

A brilliant turnout at the Mansfield Stags’ ground for a wonderful evening of music, community spirit and fundraising in support of John Eastwood Hospice. 👏❤️

With a fantastic Last Night of the Proms atmosphere, there was plenty of flag-waving, wonderful music and patriotic spirit! 🇬🇧🎶

For me, one of the highlights had to be the John Barry film scores– absolutely superb! 🎬🎼

Great to enjoy the evening alongside Cllr Faz Choudhury, and brilliant to see Cllr Andy McCormack showing off his musical talents playing in the brass band! 🎺👏

Most importantly, a fantastic amount of money was raised for John Eastwood Hospice, supporting the invaluable work they do for local people and families.

A huge well done to the organisers, musicians, volunteers and everyone who came along and supported such a worthwhile cause.

A brilliant example of our community coming together!❤️🇬🇧

In Westminster and the City of London, focused on all things Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS)! 👔📈

I was delighted to be a panel speaker at the Scheme Advisory Board Annual Assembly at the Bevin Hall, Westminster, organised by the LGA, SAB and LGPS.

It was great to catch up with fellow Pension Fund Chairs, many of whom have become familiar faces, and to share views, experiences and perspectives on the opportunities and challenges facing our pension funds.

I can see a few opportunities on the horizon within Pensions to investigate further to benefit our members.

Later in the afternoon, I headed to the London Stock Exchange to attend the LGPS Central Ltd Summit. I've closely followed the stock market indices since becoming Chair due to our varied investments. So it was a really good experience to be at the home of the FTSE.

Great to see the exchange before it's move to Canary Wharf.

🇬🇧 At Westminster Today – LGPS Scheme Advisory Board Annual Assembly

Today, I'm pleased to be attending the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) Scheme Advisory Board Annual Assembly at Westminster, where I've been invited to take part in a panel discussion entitled "Perspectives from Chairs."

The session will explore effective leadership, lessons learned and the evolving landscape of the Local Government Pension Scheme.

I'm looking forward to sharing my experiences, hearing different perspectives and contributing to discussions about the future of pension governance.

A great opportunity to represent Nottinghamshire and contribute to important discussions at a national level.

🏥 Thoresby Vale healthcare contributions – an important update

I’ve received this letter from Newark and Sherwood District Council after writing to them, regarding the healthcare contributions secured through the Thoresby Vale development.

The letter confirms that approximately £925,089 has been received so far, with a further estimated £157,219 plus indexation still to come. This could bring the total healthcare contribution to around £1.17 million.

My priority is to ensure this money delivers the healthcare investment that Edwinstowe needs. Our village is growing, and with more homes and more residents comes greater demand for local healthcare services. It is vital that infrastructure keeps pace with that growth.

The agreement does contain provisions under which the funding could, in certain circumstances, be redirected towards affordable housing. I do not want to see these contributions diverted to further housing when our growing community needs investment in healthcare provision. The money was secured in recognition of the impact of development, and I want to see it deliver tangible benefits for local residents.

Although healthcare contributions and the Thoresby Vale development is not my responsibility as a County Councillor, I believe it is important to do everything I can to help secure the right outcome for Edwinstowe.

Since receiving the letter, I’ve spoken by phone with the Director of Strategic Partnerships at the relevant NHS Integrated Care Boards to discuss how we can move this forward. I've raised the potential of using existing premises as a potential healthcare hub, rather than assuming a brand-new building is the only option.

I want to see the relevant organisations working together, practical proposals developed and this funding put to work for the benefit of our community.

Edwinstowe’s population is growing. Our healthcare provision must grow with it. I’ll continue pushing for progress and keep residents updated.

📄 Thoresby Vale to Forest Corner footpath update

I’ve received this letter from Newark and Sherwood District Council (NSDC) regarding the proposed footpath connection between Thoresby Vale and Forest Corner in Edwinstowe.

As many residents will remember, I organised a community walk which highlighted the issues with pedestrian access and the need for this connection. It was really well attended, showing just how much this matters to local people.

There have been difficulties in finding an agreed way for Harworth Group and NSDC to fund the pathway through Section 106 developer contributions. Although NSDC are the planning authority for this development, I've got involved due to how long everything seems to be taking and residents are struggling to get responses from Harworth Group.

I’m sharing the correspondence I received from NSDC after dropping off some letters when I visited Castle House in Newark, so residents can see the current position and the challenges involved in progressing the project.

I’ll continue to push for a practical way forward and keep residents updated as discussions progress.

East Midlands Today news piece on the Oak Room, commemorative plaque in Sherwood Forest.

Edwinstowe Historical Society are working on a couple of projects with my county councillor funding.

Whilst it's caused upset to our Sherwood Forest community that the plaque has been targeted and stolen just before our community unveiling. It will not stop the Edwinstowe Historical Society commemorating all the couples who married at the old visitor centre.
