Congratulations to the latest Army Reserve recruits from across the South of England who have successfully passed out of Phase 1 training and joined the ranks of the Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment (PWRR).

The recruits completed a demanding 9-day Foundation Course, learning the fundamentals of military service, before progressing to a challenging two-week Battle Camp designed to develop and test their fieldcraft, soldiering skills, and resilience.

Their training culminated in a proud Passing Out Parade, supported by a military band and attended by family and friends.

The new soldiers will now move on to specialist trade training, with many undertaking the Combat Infantry Course to gain the skills required to serve as Infantry Soldiers within 3 and 4 PWRR and become deployable on operations around the world.

Think you have what it takes to be our next Tiger? Army Reserve soldiers train in their spare time locally while continuing their civilian careers.

As most of you know Col (Retd) John Powell retired as the Regimental Secretary at the end of 2025. The process to recruit a replacement was stalled by the Civil Service recruiting ban, but I am pleased to announce the interviews have taken place, a myriad of forms have been completed and a start date has been agreed.

With effect from 1 Sep 26, Brig (Retd) Matt Maer DSO MBE will take up the post.
