Welcome Reception for New Liberian Ambassador Highlights Strategic Maritime Ties
London, United Kingdom — The Embassy of the Republic of Liberia in the United Kingdom hosted a formal in-house reception to welcome Her Excellency Ambassador Genevieve A. Kennedy, newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Court of St. James’s.
The event, held at the Embassy in Fitzroy Square – London, brought together diplomatic staff and senior representatives of the Liberian IMO (International Maritime Organisation. The gathering served not only to introduce the Ambassador to the team but also to reaffirm the vital collaboration between Liberia’s foreign service and its globally respected maritime institutions.
In her address, Her Excellency thanked the Embassy team and maritime officials for their warm reception and conveyed her strong commitment to promoting Liberia’s interests in the United Kingdom and across multilateral platforms.
“The UK remains an indispensable partner to Liberia, particularly in the areas of maritime governance, international diplomacy, and trade. As I take up this post, I look forward to building on our shared achievements and expanding Liberia’s presence and influence in key sectors,” she stated.
Ambassador Kennedy emphasized that Liberia’s diplomatic outreach is closely aligned with national priorities—chief among them, the growth and regulation of Liberia’s maritime sector. With the International Maritime Organization (IMO) headquartered in London, she noted the strategic importance of effective coordination between the Embassy and maritime agencies to ensure robust representation and continued leadership within the global maritime community.
Officials from the maritime delegation expressed their confidence in the Ambassador’s leadership and pledged their continued cooperation. They also reaffirmed the sector’s commitment to upholding Liberia’s reputation as a top-tier ship registry, known for safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
The ceremony concluded with expressions of goodwill and a shared commitment to deepening Liberia–UK relations. Her Excellency is expected to present her Letters of Credence to His Majesty The King in the coming weeks, formally commencing her diplomatic mission.

London, United Kingdom — Her Excellency Madam Genevieve A. Kennedy Liberia’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, participated in the high-level launch of the Global Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Blueprint 2025, a landmark initiative focused on mobilizing responsible, sustainable, and forward-looking international investment.
The launch event, held in The Reform Club, convened senior diplomats, international investors, trade envoys, and government representatives from across the globe. The initiative aims to reframe the global investment dialogue around inclusive economic development, strategic partnerships, and green growth.
Representing Liberia, Her Excellency joined fellow Ambassadors, including His Excellency Mr. Aly Diallo, Ambassador of Guinea-Bissau to the United Kingdom (pictured above), to discuss shared priorities in attracting Foreign Direct Investment that supports infrastructure, value-added production, and regional integration within Africa.
In her remarks, Ambassador Kennedy reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to creating a favourable investment climate and positioning the country as an emerging destination for responsible capital.
“The Global FDI Blueprint offers an important opportunity for countries like Liberia to engage directly with investors and policy architects to ensure that FDI flows are not only increased, but strategically aligned with our national development goals,” she stated.
H.E. Genevieve A Kennedy highlighted Liberia’s ongoing reforms in ease of doing business, its abundant natural resources, and the government’s emphasis on infrastructure development and sustainable agriculture as key pillars for investment.
On the sidelines of the event, Her Excellency engaged with various institutional stakeholders, reinforcing Liberia’s intention to play a proactive role in regional and global investment dialogues.
The Embassy will continue to participate in follow-up engagements stemming from the Blueprint initiative and welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with UK-based investors, multilateral institutions, and development partners.

H.E. AMB Kennedy meets His Majesty’s Vice Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps, Victoria Busby
As part of established diplomatic protocol upon assuming her duties, Her Excellency Ambassador Genevieve A. Kennedy, Liberia’s newly accredited envoy to United Kingdom, paid a courtesy call on the Vice Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps on the 10/05/2025.
The meeting, was both cordial and purposeful. It served to formally introduce Her Excellency to the protocol apparatus of the host nation, as well as to facilitate her integration into the diplomatic corps. The Vice Marshal, in her capacity as a senior official responsible for diplomatic liaison, extended a warm welcome on behalf of the government and conveyed best wishes for a successful tenure.
Discussions during the call focused on procedural matters, including the forthcoming presentation of Letters of Credence to the Head of State—a ceremony which formally recognizes an ambassador’s status and authorizes the full discharge of diplomatic functions. The African Union (AU) is a continental organization established on May 26, 2001, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and officially launched on July 9, 2002, in Durban, South Africa. It replaced the Organization of African Unity (OAU), which was founded in 1963 to promote unity and cooperation among African states. The AU consists of 55 member states and aims to promote political and economic integration, peace, security, and sustainable development across Africa. Its headquarters is in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Key AU institutions include the African Union Commission (AUC), the Pan-African Parliament, the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, and the Peace and Security Council. The AU plays a crucial role in conflict resolution, economic development (through Agenda 2063), and regional cooperation through initiatives like the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
