Dda Rachid Brakchi, a Great Activist, Has Left Us

It is with immense sadness and deep emotion that we learned of the passing of a great man, RACHID BRAKCHI, an tireless activist for the Kabyle cause and a pillar of the struggle for the self-determination of Kabylia.

Originally from the village of Tawrirt, in the municipality of Tibane, within the confederation of the At Waɣlis, he was a sincere, courageous, and loyal activist. He devoted his life to defending the dignity of his people with conviction, humility, and profound love for Kabylia. A friend of the President of the MAK and former President of the MAK Coordination in the United Kingdom, he leaves behind an exemplary path and an indelible mark on our struggle.

Today, Kabylia loses one of its brave sons, and the movement loses a brother-in-arms. His struggle, his values, and his memory will continue to live on through us.

We extend our sincerest condolences to his family, his loved ones, his fellow activists, and to the entire Kabyle people.
May he rest in peace.
Kabylia will remember her worthy children, for eternity.

To his family, we wish much courage, patience, and strength during this painful ordeal.

Solidarity with the Jewish Community in the UK

The Movement for the Self-Determination of Kabylia – UK expresses its deep solidarity with the Jewish community in the United Kingdom following the tragic event that occurred in Manchester.

We strongly condemn all forms of violence, antisemitism, and hatred. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and the entire Jewish community who are facing this painful moment.

As a movement committed to freedom, justice, and human dignity, we reaffirm that no community should ever be targeted or live in fear because of their identity, culture, or faith.

In these difficult times, we stand shoulder to shoulder with our Jewish brothers and sisters in the UK, and we call for unity, compassion, and mutual respect among all communities.

𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗞𝗜𝗗𝗡𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗦

Kabylia, a land scarred and under constant tension, is once again the scene of repression.
On 1 October 2025, in the very heart of the village of Aït Mellikeche (At Mlikec), within the administrative district of Tazmalt, a new arrest with all the appearance of a kidnapping took place.

Larbi Ouari, a young man from the village, was violently apprehended by two vehicles of the Algerian gendarmerie, accompanied by plainclothes agents, presumably from the police.
In front of a shocked and fearful population, he was forcibly taken away, without explanation, without legal warrant.

Twenty-four hours later, no information has been provided regarding his whereabouts or condition.

The Kabyle League for Human Rights (LKDH) raises the alarm and calls on international bodies to take action against these arbitrary practices, now routine in Kabylia: targeted arrests, intimidation, and detentions outside any legal framework.

We urgently call for mobilization in defense of truth, justice, and the protection of fundamental rights in Kabylia.

‼️𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗥𝗧‼️

The Kabyle League for Human Rights (LKDH) has been informed, from a reliable source, of the arrest of a Kabyle citizen, Vejema Vudjebla, residing in Great Britain. He was apprehended upon his arrival at Algiers airport in July 2025 and remains, to this day, under a detention order.

Attached is the alert:
We have learned with indignation that Vujema Vujebla was arrested last July at Algiers airport by the Algerian authorities, as he was returning to Kabylia as usual, in full respect of his most basic rights.
His only “crime” is to love his people and to peacefully claim the right of the Kabyles to exist and to express themselves freely.
We strongly condemn this arbitrary arrest and demand his immediate release. All our solidarity goes to Vujema, his family, and all Kabyle activists who are victims of repression.
Kabylia has the right to freedom, dignity, and the respect of its fundamental rights.

Kabyle National Day – Tribute to the Martyrs of the Black Spring

On the occasion of Kabyle National Day, the MAK-UK Coordination held a commemorative gathering this Saturday, 14 June 2025, in honour of the Kabyle martyrs brutally killed during the Black Spring of 2001 by the Algerian regime's security forces.

This day of remembrance, now officially dedicated to the dignity and resilience of the Kabyle people, brought together activists, supporters and members of the diaspora for a moment of reflection, public speeches, and a minute of silence. Together, we remembered that forgetting would be a second death more cruel than the first and that erasure is a slow betrayal of our struggle and our dignity.

The 128 young lives lost in 2001 are not just victims of state violence; they are symbols of a people standing tall, determined to speak out in the face of oppression. Their memory remains a moral compass guiding our peaceful fight for justice, freedom, and self-determination for Kabylia.

Through this tribute, the MAK-UK Coordination reaffirms its unwavering commitment to preserving the memory of our martyrs, strengthening the mobilisation of the diaspora, and upholding this day as one of dignity, unity, and intergenerational remembrance.

We thank all those who participated in this commemoration, here in the United Kingdom and across the Kabyle diaspora.

AGENDA – Conference-Debate at the University of Quebec: "Political Science in the Service of Peaceful Struggle: The Case of Kabylia"

PROVISIONAL GOVERNMENT OF KABYLIA

MOVEMENT FOR THE SELF-DETERMINATION OF KABYLIA

MAK Canada Coordination

In a spirit of openness, truth, and democratic debate, the Student Centre for National Research and Action (CERAN-UQAM), in collaboration with the Quebec-Kabylia Friendship Association, is organising a vital conference-debate:

"Political Science in the Service of Peaceful Struggle: The Case of Kabylia"

🗓️ Date: Saturday, 07/06/2025
🕑 Time: 2:00 PM
📍 Venue: Room A-M050 – UQAM, 400 Sainte-Catherine Street East, Montreal (Berri-UQAM Metro)

Topics to be discussed:

* Does the Algerian regime have the tools and courage for a democratic debate on Kabylia?
* The emancipation of peoples: an ideological issue, a geopolitical question... or a state taboo?
* Dialogue despite differences: at what cost, and with what hopes?

In a genuine act of openness, the organisers hand-delivered an official invitation to the representatives of the Algerian Consulate in Montreal.
Result: Total silence. No response. No commitment. No willingness to engage.

In the face of this silence, the organisers are giving the floor to those who wish to speak. Representatives of the Kabyle Government-in-exile will present within a rigorous academic framework the vision of a people determined not to disappear.

This conference seeks to break the wall of silence surrounding a neglected reality: marginalisation, repression, denial… but also peaceful resistance, collective intelligence, and the aspiration for emancipation.

Figures from academic, cultural, and political spheres are invited to come and listen to the voice of an indomitable Kabylia dignified and resolutely focused on the future.

When a state dodges the debate, it is up to the people to speak.
We invite you to attend in large numbers and make your presence heard.

14 June, Kabyle Nation Day: Open Doors in Paris and Montreal (Statement from the Prime Minister)

ANAVAD AQVAYLI DI VERRA
KABYLE GOVERNMENT IN EXILE

Prime Minister

The Kabyle Government in Exile (Anavad), in the exercise of its historic mission to restore Kabyle sovereignty, proclaimed 14 June as Kabyle Nation Day in 2013. This date was chosen in memory of the massive march on Algiers on 14 June 2001, which marked the collective awakening of the Kabyle people in the face of the denial of their fundamental cultural, linguistic, and political rights.

Kabyle Nation Day now stands as a solemn moment of reflection, mobilization, and reaffirmation of our inalienable right to self-determination. In this spirit, the Kabyle Government in Exile and the Movement for the Self-Determination of Kabylia are organizing two open-door events:

Saturday, 14 June 2025, in Paris, from 10:00 to 21:00
Sunday, 15 June 2025, in Montreal, from 13:00 to 17:00
These public gatherings are part of our broader policy rooted in transparency, proximity to the people, and the imperative of ongoing dialogue with Kabyle society. They aim to strengthen the connection between the independence movement’s governance and the citizens committed to national liberation.

The central theme of this year’s edition will focus on the Unilateral Declaration of Independence of Kabylia, which the Government is considering for the coming months. On this occasion, President Ferhat Mehenni will speak in both Paris and Montreal to present the foundations of this major political step and to respond—with clarity and a sense of responsibility—to questions from our fellow citizens.

In addition to political speeches and conferences, these events will offer a direct platform for dialogue between Kabyle citizens and the key institutions engaged in the struggle for national sovereignty.

Several representative organisations, including the MAK, Anavad, Imni, the Kabyle League for Human Rights (LKDH), Aza-Rouge, the Union of Kabyle Women (UFK), Ageruj Aqvayli, CESEK, CSD, and ASEK, will host information and exchange booths.

This unprecedented joint mobilisation reflects the vitality of our national movement and the convergence of Kabyle forces around a common ideal: the emancipation of our people and the reconstruction of an independent Kabyle State.

Moreover, in Paris, a roundtable will be dedicated to the political analysis of 14 June 2001, a pivotal day in the contemporary Kabyle movement, to highlight the importance of collective memory in shaping our national future. Moving forward without disconnecting from our past is a fundamental requirement for building a strong, dignified Kabyle Republic rooted in its history.

On this symbolic day, we solemnly call on all Kabyles—wherever they may be, in Kabylia or in the diaspora—to raise the Kabyle flag on their balconies, windows, or gathering places. This highly symbolic act will demonstrate our unity, our resilience, and our unwavering commitment to the Kabyle national project.

The Kabyle Government in Exile reaffirms its call for unity, national cohesion, and mass support for the Kabyle people’s liberation project.

Long live a free, dignified, and independent Kabyle Nation.

Hanafi Ferhouh
Prime Minister
