May Half Term at Slade Gardens Adventure Playground

Calling adventurers to join us next week for May Half Term for a fun-filled free play, outdoor adventure, and fun activities! We've got a great new excursion planned; a guided lesson and session at the Stockwell Skatepark, as well as our tradition of a cinema visit.

We are child led.
All young people must be registered before attending. If you’re joining for the first time, please use registration on website.
A free lunch will be provided to all whole day adventurers.
We encourage children to dress for the weather — play can get messy!

Best day at Slade Adventure with our plant and produce sale raising funds for the playground. Lots of garden visitors including who did a great job on our very overgrown mint hugel. Rabbits got the benefit of the weeding - big lunch loads of mint and mallow 🐰.

A big thank you to all our volunteers who keep our garden growing, and a lovely place to be on a Saturday.

During the Easter break, together with our playworkers, asked the children what they most liked about the playground and what they’d like for the future.

Maps, models and drawings were made as well as walk-and-talk site tours to point out bits they loved and areas they hoped could be improved:

“More swings!” they said. “We like stuff that’s really fast!

“More ANIMALS!” - thinking about that one guys… [lion emoji?]

The older children asked for more seating and hang-out areas, and there were requests for a ramp for the zipline, for better accessibility, as well as lots of other brilliant ideas around areas for role play.

LIFE DRAWING/CHARCOAL SOCIAL begins!
Want to make something of your Sunday afternoons/evenings? Starting on 10th May, the Hut at Slade Gardens APG will be hosting four relaxed life drawing sessions facilitated by local art students between 4-6pm.

Short and long exercises/poses. Let us guide you or get on with it yourself! Paper, drawing boards and charcoal provided but please feel free to bring materials along.
No experience necessary and all abilities welcome. We aren’t looking for the next Picasso but who knows what talents you might discover.
Don’t wear white. :-)
