University of London Officers’ Training Corps - ULOTC

We are hosting Exercise King's Challenge Cup on Saturday 27 April at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst for 13 UOTCs.

Over 700 OCdts will compete against each other in Rugby, Football, Netball, Hockey, Running, Military Skills and E-Sports, all for the coveted KCC trophy!

This is a yearly competition so if you've missed out this time there will opportunity for you to join in on all the fun next time.

Formal dinners

Part of the experience of the University of London Officers Training Corps are both formal and informal social events held throughout the year.

In this instance, we have the dinner for 1 Platoon, A Company. The platoon dinner is a core part of the first year experience as you learn correctly etiquette and also have an opportunity to socialise with your friends and the staff.

The dinner also provides you an insight into mess life and events should you go and join the army after university.

Battlefield Casualty Drills (BCD)

On Tuesdays, some of the training we do relates to BCD. This can involve anything from scrapes and triaging casualties to sort them by the severity of their wound to applying tourniquets, performing CPR and treating a sucking chest wound.

All these aspects of teaching culminate in a test that is a large part of passing the Module Alpha syllabus that Officer Cadets complete in their first year.

Where will 2024 take you...

Recently, three of our Officer Cadets took the opportunity to train for the weekend with the army Mixed, Masters and Men's netball teams at St. Omer barracks in Aldershot.

They went on to play for the mixed team against Henley Hawks and came out victorious. With our own Officer Cadet Healey being awarded Player of the weekend!

A massive congratulations to our runners!

Well done to everyone who competed in the UK South Cross-Country Championship held at 3 RSME Regt, Gibraltar Barracks last week 👏

The course was 10 Km for males and 8 Km for females, our women's team finished second and a special mention for OCdt Baig who won her age category 🌟

Over the summer, Officer Cadet Williams was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to shadow an Aviation Support Officer from 1 Regiment, Army Air Corps.

He spent 14 days with the AAC with time spent at RNAS Yeovilton, RAF Spadeadam and Carlisle Airport.

On Tuesday we had out annual Arms and Services night where reserve units from across the London area come along and give our Officer Cadets a chance to speak to them to get a good idea of what they do.

Thank you very much to all the units that attended.

Last weekend saw B Company deploy to a slightly rainy Salisbury Plain to learn about and conduct platoon attacks. Which they did with considerable enjoyment and success.

Meanwhile, A Company saw their first weekend take them to Pirbright. There, they learned some of the very basics of soldiering. Such as an introduction to drill and camouflage and concealment.
