Last week, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump welcomed Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla for a State Visit 🇺🇸🇬🇧, including a military parade and formal welcome speech from the President at the White House. The First Lady and Her Majesty The Queen met with students in an innovative cross-cultural educational program using artificial intelligence and virtual reality. His Majesty The King gave a speech to a joint session of the U.S. Congress, followed by the State Dinner which the President and First Lady hosted in the East Room of the White House.

Their Majesties The King and The Queen then visited New York, paying their respects at the 9/11 Memorial, and highlighted the importance of literacy for all ages in an event at the New York Public Library.

The President and First Lady bid a formal farewell to Their Majesties at the White House, reaffirming the strength and continued collaboration of our 🇺🇸🇬🇧 partnership. The King and The Queen also visited Arlington National Cemetery to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, honoring those who have given their lives in service. U.S. Interior Secretary Burgrum welcomed The King to Shenandoah National Park to see the beauty of America’s Parks. Before departing the U.S., Their Majesties also experienced the American tradition of a block party in Front Royal, Virginia, to mark . 🇺🇸

The U.S. Embassy in London & our Consulates General in Belfast & Edinburgh will be closed on Monday, May 4, 2026 for the UK Early May Bank Holiday.

Normal operations will resume on Tuesday, May 5.

As His Majesty King Charles III noted in his speech to Congress yesterday, this year is the semi-quincentennial of America’s Declaration of Independence in 1776 🇺🇸🇬🇧 Did you know that a semi-quincentennial is the 250th anniversary of an event? Thank you to HM The King and our friends in the 🇬🇧 for their birthday wishes, however they phrased them 😂
