📚📖 the 2nd edition of our book club, discussing In and Against the State was a huge success! Enormous thanks to and for all their support.
We discussed the contradictions of needing, fighting against, and hoping for a welfare state, how to create class consciousness, what councils and councillors can do to defy austerity, and much more.
Next month we’ll be reading a book on Irish struggle and colonialism - watch this space for the official announcement.

We staunchly condemn the imperialist war that the US/Israel is waging on Iran. Our solidarity stands with the people of Iran who will not be set free by western bombing.
We were glad to see other comrades from Your Party bring their banners and stand together in action, in solidarity with the Iranian people.

We are **thrilled** to be partnering up with Left Book Club for our branch’s next book! We’ll be reading In and Against the State and discussing it on the 9th of March at the legendary Housman’s Bookshop at 7pm. Don’t worry, the book is super short so there’s plenty of time to read it in the next 2 weeks!
Left Book Club has been a great influence to many of our branch members (many of us first met each other there!) so it’s a beautiful ‘full circle’ moment for our branch.

Our last branch meeting was a tremendous success! Andy Bain from the Islington Trades Union Council spoke about how to support strike action in the borough, and Shirley Franklin spoke about how to defend Whittington Hospital from privatisation.
We also had member motions discussed, reports from our Political Education and Mass Listening Campaign Working Groups, and loads of delicious home-cooked food!
Looking forward to the next one!!

👂out first Mass Listening Campaign session 👂
Met some incredible people, but most importantly, we listened the concerns that people have in our community, ranging from urgent maintenance to their buildings to the rise of the far right in the country.
We learned a lot, not just about local issues but also how to actually run these type of projects! Thanks to Al our members that worked really hard to organise this.
10/10 would listen again.

🏛️ Our Political Education Working Group organised an outing to the Islington Museum yesterday morning.
We could write an entire book about the importance of local history and local struggles, specially those in Islington and how vital it is that this knowledge is preserved and shared and celebrated by the new generation of activists, but really we just want to talk about all those beautiful badges 😍
The left lives or dies on the quality of our badges, and Islington has some real beauties.
