Today is Volunteer Recognition Day, and we want to say a big thank you to the people who help make Citizen Hub what it is.
So much of what happens in a Hub happens because local people choose to show up, give their time, share their skills and care about others in their community.
From welcoming people in, to supporting sessions, making connections, bringing ideas, holding space and helping things run day to day, volunteers are a huge part of the energy and heart of this work.
Citizen Hub is built with community, not just for community, and our volunteers are a big part of that truth.
To everyone who has played a part, thank you. We see you, we value you and we’re grateful for all you bring.

Join us at our first Citizen Gathering at Citizen Hub Wimbledon where we will be exploring how we can create safe and trusted space for the community.
Wednesday 25th February, 11am to 1pm
267, The Broadway, Wimbledon, SW19 1SD
Ahead of our launch in March, wanted to hear from you about what you needed in Wimbledon and how we could be placed to address that.
Our first Citizen Gathering in Wimbledon isn’t about fixing anything. It’s about creating safety. Because when people feel safe, trust follows; and when trust exists, real community work can begin.

You're invited to The Red Shoe Gathering
Friday 13th February, 2026 | 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM | The Citizen Hub, 267 The Broadway, Wimbledon, SW19 1SD
Started a business with just a dream and determination? You belong here. This event is open to all, with a focus on the experiences and needs of female founders.
This isn't just another networking event. It's a gathering where female founders; artists, bakers, makers, and innovators come together to be truly seen, heard, and celebrated.
We're breaking the bubbles that keep small businesses isolated and co-designing what support for women entrepreneurs should actually look like. Your voice will help shape the future of Citizen Hub before our official launch in March.

We’re proud to share that Citizen Hub Wimbledon has been awarded a £20,000 grant from the Wimbledon Foundation
This funding will support accessibility improvements to the Hub, helping ensure the space is genuinely welcoming and usable for everyone in the community.
As we open, one thing has been clear. Belonging only works if people can physically access the space, move through it with dignity and feel considered in how it is designed.
This grant enables us to make practical improvements to the building, including the resurfacing of the side of the building, inclusive seating and a disabled access toilet. It directly supports our commitment to creating a place where people feel safe, valued and able to take part.
We’re grateful to the Wimbledon Foundation for backing a model that puts people first and recognises that inclusive places are the foundation of stronger communities.
Thank you for believing in what we’re building here in Wimbledon.
More to come as we move through our co-design phase and towards being operationally open.

Yesterday, Citizen Hub Wimbledon opened its doors for the first time.
Over 200 people joined us across the day. Residents, partners, employers, educators, funders and civic leaders came through the space, took part in conversations and helped shape what this place will become.
Across sessions on health, volunteering, skills, employment, enterprise and community place making, one thing came through clearly. The need is real. The appetite is there and belonging matters more than we often allow for.
We heard honest reflections, challenging questions and practical ideas. Those conversations now form the starting point of our co design phase, as we work towards being operationally open from March.
This space is an experiment. A working nightclub by night, a Citizen Hub by day. Shared space. Shared value. Built with the community, not for it.
Thank you to everyone who showed up, spoke honestly, listened generously and helped set the direction for what comes next.
If you’d like to be involved as this moves forward, we’d love to hear from you.
More to come.

Today is the day.
Citizen Hub is opening in Wimbledon, and this morning we’re sharing why on BBC Radio London.
The founder, Alex Hughes, is live on air from 7.15am, talking about why Citizen Hub exists and why belonging might be one of the most overlooked forms of infrastructure we have.
We’ll be back on air again just after 8am and again at 9am, as the doors open and the day begins.
At a time when communities are under pressure and hospitality is facing real challenges, Citizen Hub Wimbledon is a live experiment in shared space and shared value. A working nightclub by night. A Citizen Hub by day. Built with the community, not for it.
If you care about health, skills, employment, local growth or the future of places, tune in.
📻 BBC Radio London
⏰ From 7.15am onwards
And if you’re nearby, the doors open at 9am.
Today, we start building this together.
