Outwoods car park to be closed for two days next week
The main car park at the Outwoods will be closed on Monday, 9 November, and Tuesday, 10 November 2026, while improvement works are carried out.

The car park and entrance area are being upgraded and there will be no public access on the two dates above to allow for tarmacking and line painting to take place.

Alternative parking is available at Nanpantan Sports Ground and visitors can use the newly resurfaced path from there leading to the Outwoods.

AT LAST ….

Dedicated patrols to tackle anti-social behaviour in Loughborough town centre could be introduced under plans being considered by Charnwood Borough Council.

The Council’s Cabinet will be asked to approve the creation of a new Public Spaces Officer Patrol at a meeting on Thursday, 12 November 2026.

If approved, the service would provide a visible presence in the town centre seven days a week.

The proposal comes as the Council finalises a new Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) to tackle anti-social behaviour, expanding the area it covers and its powers. The patrols would help enforce those new powers.

📍Government Reopens Decision on Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland Reorganisation

🗓 Today, Local Government Minister Jim McMahon announced that the Government has withdrawn its previous decision on Local Government Reorganisation for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland and will now reconsider ALL proposals before making a final decision.

‼️This means that the plans previously announced in July, including the proposed expansion of Leicester City and the creation of new unitary councils, are no longer Government policy and are back under review.

🔴 The Minister confirmed that ALL options remain on the table and that no assumptions should be made about the final outcome.

🔵 For residents, this means there remains uncertainty over how local councils in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland may be organised in the future. The Government has said it expects to provide further updates before Christmas, with final decisions anticipated next year, by February/March 2027.

🔴 We will continue to keep residents informed as further details emerge and will continue to strongly support our proposals for NO city expansion.

🔵 We will continue to advocate for an outcome that delivers strong local representation, protects community identity and provides the best value for taxpayers.

Shoppers, visitors and residents will be able to enjoy two hours' free parking at two Loughborough Council-owned car parks in the run-up to Christmas as part of a scheme to support the town centre and local businesses.

Charnwood Borough Council is running the offer at Granby Street and Beehive Lane car parks from 2 November 2026 to 3 January 2027.

The scheme aims to encourage more people to visit the town centre during the busy festive period and support retailers, the hospitality sector, market traders and other businesses.

Queen's Park workers receive national accolade
Representatives from our open spaces partner, idverde, have been presented with the National Certificate of Distinction for Parks in recognition of their work maintaining Queen's Park in Loughborough.
