ÂŁ21,000 A YEAR IN EXPENSES. CONSTANTLY ABROAD. BUT WHERE IS THE FOCUS ON CHARNWOOD?

The Labour Leader of Charnwood Borough Council, has visited ReykjavĂk, Helsinki and Strasbourg to name a few. Residents deserve clear answers about these trips.

đź’· Who funds the trips, and what do they cost?

đź“‹ What tangible benefits do residents get in return?

🏡 How are local priorities being delivered alongside international commitments?

International visits can have value, but residents should be able to understand their purpose, how they are funded and what they achieve for Charnwood.

Loughborough Conservatives believe transparency and accountability are essential. Residents deserve clarity on spending, decisions and the results delivered for our communities.

Transparency on travel. Accountability at home.

Standing up against antisemitism in Loughborough .

Conservative councillors at Charnwood Borough Council have submitted a motion reaffirming the Council’s commitment to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism.

At a time when Jewish communities continue to face rising levels of hostility and discrimination, it is vital that we stand firmly against antisemitism in all its forms.

The motion, submitted by Councillor Poland, seeks to reaffirm Charnwood’s existing commitment to the IHRA definition, express support for Jewish residents and make clear that antisemitism has no place in our borough.

Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and welcome in their community, regardless of their faith or background. We must continue to stand together against hatred, prejudice and discrimination.

Charnwood must remain a welcoming and inclusive place for everyone.

Charnwood Conservatives Back Motion Reaffirming Opposition to Antisemitism.

Conservative councillors at Charnwood Borough Council have submitted a motion reaffirming the Council's commitment to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism and expressing serious concern regarding a recent policy adopted by the Green Party of England and Wales.

đź’™ THANK YOU, SHEPSHED! đź’™

Yesterday wasn’t the result we had hoped for, but there is still a huge amount for us to be proud of.

We just wanted to say a massive thank you to all 819 residents who put their trust in Sarah Monk. All your support really does mean a great deal.

Sarah and the team worked incredibly hard throughout this tough campaign, getting out across Shepshed in all weathers, listening to residents and showing exactly why she would have made a fantastic councillor for Shepshed. She’s run a positive, determined campaign, and we all couldn’t be prouder of the effort she’s put in and the effort she continues to put into our community.

A huge thank you also goes to every single person who has knocked on doors, delivered leaflets, spoken to residents and given up their time to support Sarah. We’ve had fantastic support from colleagues and friends right across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, and that team effort hasn’t gone unnoticed. We even had Sarah scoop up some reform voters on the way and convert them to her voters.

We secured 23.1% of the vote. Whilst Labour ultimately took the seat from Reform, the result shows just how unpredictable local elections can be.

Of course, we’re disappointed. We went into this campaign wanting to win back Shepshed, and we won’t pretend otherwise. But one result doesn’t define the hard work, commitment or determination of our local team.

We have shown and will continue to show what can be achieved when we work together, and there is plenty more to come.

We’ll keep turning up, we’ll keep listening, and we’ll keep working hard for the communities we want to represent.

The work doesn’t stop here. Onwards to May 2027! 💙

A vote for Sarah Monk is a vote for Shepshed.

Our local councillors and campaign volunteers have been out and about in Shepshed, meeting residents, delivering campaign literature and discussing the issues that matter to the community.

For us, local government should always be about the people we represent. It means listening to residents, being accessible, asking difficult questions and remembering that elected office is a responsibility, not a personal privilege.

Sarah Monk is standing as the Conservative candidate in Thursday’s Shepshed County Council by-election.

Our Association believes that putting residents first should matter more than political point-scoring. We want to see local representatives working constructively with people from across the political spectrum, particularly when it comes to securing improvements for their communities.

A huge thank you to our councillors, members and volunteers pictured here, and to everyone who has been giving up their time to engage with residents across Shepshed.

OUT AND ABOUT IN SHEPSHED!

With the Shepshed by-election just days away, local Conservatives have been out campaigning and speaking with residents.

Pictured out and about in Shepshed, members of the Conservative Women’s Organisation (CWO) are taking part in local campaign activity.

The election will determine who actually represents Shepshed, and who will bring proper representation back to Shepshed after it was lost following the last election. Sarah is that person.

A big thank you to everyone who has been giving their time to support local campaigning and community engagement.
