‼️Doors closed for new intakes‼️

Just had this poor wood pigeon in with severe pox on both eyes, beak is covered and all over the toes. This is not good for this pigeon but like I always say I will 100% do my best by him. It’s the way he looked at me when put in the carrier says it all, I felt like he was saying “HELP ME” and that is what I will try and do 😢😢.

2nd intake tonight is this poor adult collared dove, attacked by a sparrowhawk. Half of the wing is literally gone. Again, I will do all I can.

As you would have seen by my posts recently I have had some horrific cases in over the past 2 weeks and to concentrate on those I am unfortunately not able to take anymore in until some recover and can be released.

I don’t have any volunteers to help me either hence why I now need to close.

I am in a broken mess at the moment, but I will pull myself together, put my big girl pants on and get on with what I need to do. Get them back out there again.

Again if anyone would like to contribute to the care for the ones I have in, here is my PayPal again. I received £30 yesterday which has already been spent on some antibiotics.

Last week I met a lovely lady called Becca who goes to Wardown park to check on the pigeons down there. Even though she is not from Luton 😘😘.

Today Becca managed to catch 2 poorly pigeons.

1 with Mycoplasma which is quite an easy fix with antibiotics and eye drops.

The other a sparrowhawk attack that had taken most of his back and neck away and put a hole in the crop so food is coming out. With this one I have cleaned up the back, neck and crop. Applied Intrasite gel to the back & neck, also Intrasite gel and green clay to the crop to seal the hole so the antibiotics and food stay down.

Once recovered, Becca will collect and return to their flock in the park.

Thank you Becca for caring for our wildlife and will keep you all updated on their progress.

Antibiotics are very expensive so if anyone would like to contribute towards it the PayPal is [email protected] or click the link below x

Canker in pigeons is severe and life threatening. If you see a grounded pigeon with wings and legs intact it could have this.

I took a fledgling wood pigeon in today that had been in someone’s garden for 4 days. The smell and infection is horrendous. I checked the pigeons mouth and definitely had it growing up from its throat but the smell that was coming from its stomach was something else 🤮🤮🤮.

I turned the pigeon over and what I saw was something I have never seen as bad as it was. The canker and infection was eating away at its stomach. The stomach was full of holes and the skin was very thin and coming away in which the food he was trying to eat was falling out and he was starving to death.

I have cleaned him up, inserted Intrasite gel and green clay to fix the holes, given him pain relief, antibiotics and metronidazole.

I am hoping this will work. I will give him 100% of my time to fix him and get him back out in the wild but it is 50/50 whether he is strong enough to fight it.

Hi all, sorry for not posting all the time but it’s crazy at the moment but wanted to show you the intake from this morning.

This little one was found by a lady on a dog walk, cat attack or sparrowhawk, but the injuries are bad. Missing an eye too.

Now cleaned up, pain relief given, Intrasite gel applied and covered with green clay. 🤞 he recovers but I will do my best.

Amazon wish list is attached if anybody would like to help out with supplies.

Thank you xx

Hi guys. Sorry if I don’t update all the time. It seems to be baby woody season and with over 20 in my care right now is really busy.

Anyway, I saw a post today from Sophie Bishop in Barton and I had to help. The poor wood pigeon has so many things wrong but I will do my upmost to get him back out there where he/she belongs. Firstly a very bad cut to the side of its face, small pox lesion, canker in the throat and nasal passage and also a split crop where good was falling out.

I have given metronidazole for the canker, Metacam for the pain, Lipsore for the pox lesion and Vet Gold for the cut on face. The split crop has been cleaned, flushed out, Intrasite gel applied, small bit of glue and clay on top to hold it together.

It’s just a matter of time now and I will do everything to help xx

If you wish to purchase from my Amazon list, the link is attached and I have updated with new bits that I am low on that I did not realise before.

Thank you from myself (Nickie) and all the furry friends I help 🥰 xx

Yesterday late afternoon I was contacted by a member of the public that DOMESTIC DUCKS had been dumped YET AGAIN in Wardown Park.

Funnily enough it was the same time last year, same place and same breed of ducks, luckily my friend Dayna could help me.

First thing this morning after finishing a nightshift at Vets Now, Dayna and her partner went to Wardown, after walking the whole length of the lake, they found them exhausted and trying to get OUT OF THE LAKE, wet, freezing cold and covered in oil, it was only a matter of time before the would have died. These are RUNNER DUCKS, hand reared and not water proof.

Dayna being amazing got absolutely soaked to her waist to save their petrified lives.

A massive thank you to them both for saving their lives again.

If whoever has dumped these and sees this post, please reach out to either myself or Dayna. There will be no judgement as you are asking for help.

BUT PLEASE PLEASE STOP DUMPING YOUR DUCKS IN A LAKE WHERE THEY HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO SURVIVE OR EVEN GET PREDATED ON.
