Although VWV was founded in April 2021, our story really began in 2020, at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. During the first lockdown, our founder, a British Army Captain with 30+ years service under his belt, found himself placed in a situation by the Army that led to anxiety and depression. Although he had never suffered from mental health issues before, as a trained mental health first-aider, he began to spot some early signs. As difficult as it was to ask for help, he did. He approached the Army, but due to a misinterpretation of policy, he was denied help. Alone and without support, the situation spiralled and our Captain ended up in hospital. In his own words, he was “just looking for a timeout”. At this point, the Army finally stepped in. After ten months of treatment that had put him firmly on the road to recovery, our founder realised that, for the sake of his mental health, the military was no longer a viable option for him and after consultation with the medical authorities, Medical Discharge beckoned! The majority of veterans are highly skilled and our founder is no exception..As a former engineer he’s handy to say the least, tackling anything from painting and decorating, plumbing and tiling to renovating wooden floors, building gates and everything in between. The concept of Veterans With Vans® was borne out of a really dark period in our founder’s life, but we are now lighting the way for other veterans and those who are looking for an affordable way to earn a living when they leave the forces. The Future; our ultimate goal is to be the go-to platform for veterans who want to be self-employed, empowering them to leverage the exceptional skills they worked so hard to acquire whilst serving. Our founder and other veterans have proven the VWV concept works, building up loyal client-bases in just a few short months. Veterans With Vans® delivers value.
