The Inspires Rounders Team recently attended a tournament at William Hulme Grammar School. It was a lovely, sunny day with a gentle breeze. Arriving early gave the team a great opportunity to warm up and practise before the matches began. They played five games against schools from across Manchester. The team performed brilliantly, showing strong batting, scoring runs, and excellent fielding throughout.
A special mention goes to Ben and Simra who demonstrated outstanding respect and honesty towards the opposing teams and earning themselves an honesty badge. All the players had a fantastic time and should be very proud of their efforts. Other schools were also impressed by how supportive and positive Oswald Road were throughout the tournament.

We recently held a fantastic nutritious cooking session for parents and caregivers, organised by the Parent Health Champions group. The session brought families together to share ideas, learn practical tips and enjoy some relaxed conversation over refreshments before getting stuck into cooking.
Together, we made a delicious coconut curry using quick, affordable and nutritious ingredients, including frozen vegetables and canned foods, demonstrating how nutritious family meals can be simple, convenient and budget-friendly. Each participant had their own cooking station and prepared their own curry to take home, choosing ingredients to suit their family's tastes. The room was full of conversation, with parents sharing ideas, swapping tips and supporting one another throughout the session, creating a friendly and collaborative atmosphere.
Alongside cooking, we explored practical ways to encourage children to enjoy nutritious foods, including involving them in meal preparation, creating flexible "build-your-own" meals and making food fun and engaging without pressure. Parents also took home helpful resources packed with quick family-friendly meal ideas, time-saving tips and fun "food superpower" fact sheets for children.
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the session such a success. We look forward to sharing more events and activities with families in the future.

We offer a wide range of after school clubs at Oswlad Road. Here's a write up about once of our FREE clubs, Sewing Club.
Sewing Club
In Sewing Club this term, N***y and the children have been celebrating re-use and recycling. They came up with just the right project to put this in to action. All the children love the charms they carry on their backpacks and so a little Oswald Owl was born. Made from a recycled pair of jeans and leftover flower material, they created these beautiful charms. Here are the first of the finished articles, hanging proudly from their backpacks. They look amazing!

Earth Week - Eco Heroes
Earlier in the term, we celebrated Earth Week with Keep Manchester Tidy. They very kindly set up litter picking equipment in the school car park and we invited you all to come along and help. Families borrowed litter pickers, collected litter around the area and filled bags of rubbish for Biffa to collect. Thank you to everyone who took part and to the lovely Keep Manchester Tidy leaders from Manchester City Council for helping set this up.

Great Athlete's Day
We had a fantastic time at school this half term with our special guest, Antony Cotterill, who was truly inspiring from start to finish. Throughout the morning, pupils from Years 1–6 took part in an exciting fitness circuit, led by Antony. The children showed great enthusiasm, determination and resilience as they moved around the different activities, pushing themselves to do their very best.
In the afternoon, we came together for two engaging sporting assemblies, also led by Antony. He shared his journey as a wheelchair tennis player and Paralympian, encouraging the children to believe in themselves, work hard and never give up on their goals. His message really resonated with everyone in the hall.
A huge thank you to Antony for visiting our school and inspiring our pupils. We would also like to say a big thank you to all families for their generous fundraising support. Your contributions will help us to continue developing our sports and play opportunities for all children.
Great Athletes has presented us with a voucher valued at £3,246.60 for sports equipment for school so thank you ever so much to all the children for taking part and all the grown ups who sponsored them.

We are so grateful to everyone who gave up their time to support the PTA’s Big Dig Eco Afternoon . Your hard work, teamwork and community spirit made such a difference — true community heroes! We are already looking forward to watching all the new plants and greenery grow over the coming months.
The PTA’s Big Dig Eco Afternoon was a fantastic success. Thank you to all the children, parents and staff who came together to help make our playground greener, for everyone to enjoy. Families rolled up their sleeves to move soil, fill planters, plant new hedges & plants, w**d and take part in litter picking around the school grounds.
A huge thank you goes to City of Trees for kindly loaning equipment and donating the hedges that will help our outdoor spaces continue to grow and thrive for years to come. Also a massive thank you to Mrs Jones, there as Eco Lead, for engaging the children in eco friendly craft activities. And of course, thank you to our fabulous PTA for organising all of this. We really appreciate all your efforts.
