Lights, camera, Greater Manchester! 🎬
A brand new £10.5m Greater Manchester Production Fund has launched and it’s set to bring more film and TV projects right here to our city region. The fund will back productions with creative and commercial potential, that commit to filming in Greater Manchester, and that create real local impact and opportunities.
What does that mean for people here?
• More jobs for local crew and creatives 🎨
• More chances for young people to break into film and TV 🎥
• More business for local suppliers and freelancers 🆕
This is about backing homegrown talent, attracting new opportunities and showing what Greater Manchester can do.

Today, we brought together cities from across the UK and around the world for the first day of Global AI Cities 2026.
Senior digital, data and public service leaders shared real-world experience of putting AI into practice — what’s working, where the challenges are, and what needs to be in place to make it safe, fair and effective for the people who rely on these services.
Across the day, a few themes stood out:
🤝 Building trust so people feel confident in how AI is used
💻 Getting the right data in place to make it work
🔒 Using AI to support more resilient, preventative services
🧠 Making sure teams have the skills and confidence to adopt it
It was a chance to learn from each other, share what works, and recognise that while cities face different challenges, there’s lots we can do together.
A great start to Global AI Cities 2026, with lots more to come tomorrow.
