2468 Squadron Air Cadets

This week we have said goodbye to a key member of our NCO team, who has left the squadron to start her RAF Basic Training!

Sgt Lind has been with the Sqn since 2022, and has been an enthusiastic and well like member of the team since day one.

On behalf of all of the cadets and staff of 2468 Sqn, I'd like to wish Sgt Lind the Best of luck in her new career!!!!

Over recent weeks, a significant number of RAF Air Cadet (RAFAC) squadrons across the North West have been temporarily unable to parade following updated national guidance from RAFAC on electrical inspections (EICR) and the associated repair and approval timescales. This has meant that multiple facilities are currently paused while essential works are assessed or completed.

We know how important weekly parades are, and we recognise the impact this has on cadets, volunteers, families and local communities.

Our purpose at the NW RFCA is clear:
We champion Defence in the North West through people, estates and funding.

When challenges arise, our role is to focus on what we can do to support our cadet forces and help them keep moving forward.

Behind the scenes, our Estates Team has been working tirelessly to:
• assess and prioritise repairs
• identify buildings that can be reopened quickly
• support squadrons needing temporary moves
• secure short‑term hire venues where appropriate
• coordinate shared spaces with other cadet forces

Some sites require more extensive work, and in those cases we are working closely with local Wings to ensure squadrons can continue parading safely in alternative locations.

We remain fully committed to enabling every affected squadron to resume normal activity as soon as possible. Progress is ongoing, and squadrons will return to their usual locations as works are completed and approved.

From debate nights to a Squadron Christmas quiz, the past two weeks have been a great end to the year.

Tonight, we're wrapping it up with a Christmas Party! 🎅

Congratulations to SGT Wendwessen on his promotion!

Since joining the NCO team, SGT Wendwessen has acted as a role model to all cadets in the squadron.

From running Blue Drumming courses to receiving the first gold badge of 2468, Mr Wendwessen is a credit to us. We can't wait to see what else he achieves.

From developing our MOI skills to celebrating Halloween, it has been a busy couple of months. Keep it up everyone!

On Sunday the 9th, our cadets took part in Denton's Remembrance Parade.

We are incredibly proud of all who attended. As always, you have done the squadron proud. Keep up the good work.

🥁𝗕𝗟𝗨𝗘 𝗗𝗥𝗨𝗠𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗚🥁

Over the past few weeks, some of our cadets have been working towards their Blue Drumming.

It was brilliant to see how much our cadets enjoyed the opportunity!🥁

The lesson was a great success, with plenty of energy and enthusiasm all around. 🎶

On September 21st, our cadets proudly represented the squadron in a range of activities at Wing Training Day!

Our Banner Team started the day showing off their Drill and Uniform whilst some learnt about VEX Robots 🤖
Next up was Leadership, where our cadets showed excellent teamwork and problem solving and finally Archery 🎯

Special mention to Cpl Hasan put in an amazing performance and placed 3rd in the Wing DCCT competition! 👏

Throughout the day, our cadets were lucky enough to spend time with Regional WO and WO Donna Hall, who spoke with them directly and answered their questions.

A brilliant effort from everyone who took part or showed up to support, Well done 2468! 👏
