🍂 A must-visit for plant lovers this October! 🌸

Join us at RHS Garden Bridgewater on 17 October for the Cyclamen Society Show, where you can admire stunning displays of flowering cyclamen, celebrated for their beautiful blooms and intricately patterned foliage. There'll also be plants, seeds and publications available to browse and buy throughout the day.

Whether you're a seasoned gardener or simply curious to learn more, experts from the Cyclamen Society will be on hand to offer free advice on growing cyclamen and raising them from seed.

👀 5 things you might not know about the Yangzhou Scholars' Garden…

1️⃣ The four pavilions were built using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, a centuries-old construction technique that fits timber together without nails or screws.

2️⃣ Most of the materials were sourced from China, including handmade bricks and kiln-fired roof tiles. Some even come from the same suppliers used in the conservation of historic sites such as Beijing's Forbidden City.

3️⃣ Keep an eye out for bat motifs hidden within the garden's decorative details. In Chinese culture, bats are considered a symbol of good fortune and happiness, making them a lucky feature woven into the design. Look out for the five bats grouped together in the pathway just inside the Moon Gate, which represent the five blessings of longevity, wealth, health, virtue, and a peaceful, natural death

4️⃣ Need a rainy-day escape? ☔ The interconnected pavilions provide plenty of covered spaces to pause, enjoy the views and soak up the atmosphere, making the garden a wonderful place to explore whatever the weather.

5️⃣ Look closely and you'll discover layers of craftsmanship throughout the garden, from stone carvings and poetic inscriptions to a floor mosaic depicting the "Three Friends of Winter" - pine, bamboo and plum - a much-loved symbol in classical Chinese art.

🍂 Every path, bridge and pavilion has been designed to reveal something new. Whether you're admiring the autumn colour, sheltering from a shower or spotting hidden symbols of luck, there's always another detail waiting to be discovered at RHS Garden Bridgewater. 🧡
