Oikko’s Healthy Community Tip

Better sleep starts with a steady routine! Going to bed and getting up at similar times helps your body recognise when it’s time to sleep—even on days off.

Today’s action: choose a realistic wake-up time, keep it similar when you can, and allow enough time for sleep. Small habits, brighter mornings! 💚

If sleep problems persist or affect daily life, speak to your GP.

Oikko’s Healthy Community Tip

From October to early March, UK sunlight is not strong enough for our bodies to make sufficient vitamin D.

The NHS advises adults and children over four to consider taking 10 micrograms daily during autumn and winter. Children aged one to four should receive 10 micrograms throughout the year. Babies have separate guidance depending on breastfeeding and formula intake.

Today’s action: check your family’s vitamin D and ask a pharmacist if you are unsure which supplement is suitable.

Oikko’s Healthy Community Tip

Busy mind at bedtime? The NHS suggests writing down tomorrow’s tasks before sleep—it can help clear your mind.

Tonight’s action: write three things for tomorrow, put the list away and begin winding down.

If sleep problems continue or affect daily life, speak to your GP.

Oikko, One Chattogram’s Royal Bengal tiger mascot, writes three tasks in a notebook in a cosy evening setting. Highlighted cards encourage writing tomorrow’s list before beginning a bedtime wind-down.

💚 Let’s Come Together and Make a Difference 💚

We are coming together as a community to support a young Bangladeshi student who is currently going through an extremely difficult time following a serious cancer diagnosis and treatment.

To support her and her family, we are organising a Community Fundraising Event and we warmly request everyone to come forward and show your support. Every contribution, every stall, and every kind gesture can make a real difference during this challenging time.

📅 Date: 11th October
⏰ Time: 11 AM – 4 PM
📍 Venue: GMBA, 19A Birch Lane, Longsight, Manchester, M13 0NW

There will be stalls and fundraising activities throughout the event. Every single penny collected from the stalls and the event will be given directly to her and her family. ❤️

Whether you can attend, contribute, support a stall, or simply share this post with others, we would truly appreciate your help.

🙏 Please come forward, bring your family and friends, and help us support a sister from our community when she needs us most.

Together, we can bring hope and make a difference. ❤️

Thanks
Team One Chattogram

Oikko’s Healthy Community Tip

The flu vaccine is not “one and done.” Protection decreases over time, and the vaccine is updated each year to cover the most common flu viruses.

If you’re eligible for the free NHS flu NHScine, check today and book through the NHS App, a participating pharmacy or your GP surgery.

Oikko’s Healthy Community Tip

Adults should aim for around 30g of fibre daily. Choosing wholegrain options is one simple way to increase your intake.

’s action: make one easy swap—choose wholemeal bread, brown rice or wholewheat pasta instead of the white version. Small changes add up!

Oikko, One ChOne Chattogramal Bengal tiger mascot, stands in a bright community kitchen holding brown rice and wholemeal bread. Highlighted cards recommend aiming for 30g of fibre daily and making one wholegrain swap.

Oikko’s Healthy Community Tip

Strength and balance activities are recommended at least twice a week for adults aged 65 and over.

’s action: use a sturdy chair without wheels and try five slow sit-to-stands. Move comfortably and use support if needed.

If you have not exercised recently or have health concerns, speak to your GP first. Stop if you experience pain or feel unwell.

Oikko, One Chattogram’s Royal Bengal tiger mascot, demonstrates a sit-to-stand exercise beside a sturdy chair. Highlighted information explains that adults aged 65 and over should practise strength and balance activities at least twice weekly.
