There are so many misconceptions about fostering - and they stop amazing people from coming forward.

❌ 𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵: You need to own your own home or have a spare room
✅ 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁: You can foster if you rent - what matters is having a safe, stable environment.

HOME Fostering supports incredible people to access bigger houses with sufficient bedroom space to better enable siblings to stay together. We provide practical and financial support to help them start their fostering journey across Greater Manchester.

❌ 𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵: You have to be married or in a couple
✅ 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁: Single people can make incredible foster carers too

❌ 𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵: You must have parenting experience
✅ 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁: Full training and ongoing support are provided every step of the way

❌ 𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵: You can't work and foster
✅ 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁: Many foster carers do work - fostering can often fit around your lifestyle depending on the type of care you offer.

❌ 𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵: You can't foster if you have pets
✅ 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁: Having pets doesn’t stop you from fostering - in many cases, they can be a positive part of a child’s experience

❌ 𝗠𝘆𝘁𝗵: You’re too old (or too young) to foster
✅ 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁: It’s about your skills, commitment and ability to care - not your age

This year’s theme is , so over the next two weeks we’ll be shining a light on the everyday realities of fostering while raising awareness of the life - changing impact foster carers have on children and young people.

We just wanted to say thank you to everyone who came and shared our launch event with us last week and to those who weren’t able to join us but sent their good wishes.

We all really enjoyed the chance to catch up with you all and to share our journey so far. There was so much support for us and for HOME Fostering in the room, we’re really grateful

We loved chatting with you about the challenging but rewarding journey of fostering and how you can provide a safe, loving home for children in need. 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆 🩷

We’re delighted to be partnering with 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆 who will provide practical, trauma-informed learning and tools and ongoing support and development for our team, applicants and carers.

Pink Pearl Parent Academy is an internationally award-winning practice-led learning and support platform, designed by foster carers for foster and kinship carers.

In Nov 2025, they were 1 of 10 recipients of the Synthesia AI Video Awards. It was a global award. They are also currently a Finalist in the Stars of Children and Young People Awards, for their 'Learning and Development' category (fingers crossed!)

We’re looking forward to working together and supporting the important work carers do every day.

It's a big day for us at HOME as we have received the news that we are now officially a registered fostering agency!! It's been a bit of a long and bumpy path through the process with our innovative model creating lots of discussion and reflection as we've gone along but we are finally there - and we are delighted!

HOME is open for applications - and we've already got a chat booked with a possible carer for Sunday evening!!
