Château Picque Caillou Blanc, Pessac-Leognan, 2025

Built in 1755, Château Picque Caillou sits in the heart of Pessac-Léognan, on Bordeaux’s outskirts, neighbouring prestigious estates Château Haut-Brion and Château Pape Clément. Its name references the estate’s distinctive gravelly soils, which lend the w**es their elegance, finesse and ageing potential. This w**e is 100% Sauvignon Blanc, producing attractive aromas of passionfruit, grapefruit and lemon with a delicate floral uplift.

Castello Banfi La Lus Albarossa, 2022.

‘La lus’ means light in the local Piemontese dialect, a reference to the w**e’s grape variety, Albarosso. This is a relatively new grape variety, which is a crossing of Nebbiolo and Barbera. Castello Banfi are only one of four producers making Albarosso in Piedmont, and this is the ultimate expression of this new adventure.

What an evening we had! Our Port & Pies event pulled the best of the Douro and Yorkshire together: 6 different Ports paired with 6 different pies from our friends

Matthew and Andrew took our guests through the history of Port; White, Pink, Tawny, Fine Ruby and Vintage Ports were all carefully paired with a variety of locally made pork pies. The grand finale was dusting off a special bottle of 1983 Vintage Port, a treat indeed!
