Being invited to the table is one thing. Having the courage to challenge how that table operates, and who gets a seat, is another.
Today, we are proud to shine the spotlight on Christabel Yeboah, a woman whose work is challenging systems, breaking barriers and creating meaningful change for Black women and femmes.
Christabel is the Co-Founder and Chief Vision Officer of HERSANA CIC, the UK's first national gender-based violence support service dedicated to Black femmes.
With over 12 years of experience in the Violence Against Women and Girls sector, she has dedicated her career to ensuring that Black women's experiences are not overlooked in conversations about violence, safety and justice.
What makes Christabel's work particularly powerful is her determination to move beyond simply raising awareness.
Through HERSANA, her specialist consultancy, training and contribution to domestic abuse-related death reviews, she challenges organisations to recognise how race, gender, culture and other inequalities shape women's experiences and access to support.
For Christabel, inclusion is not simply about being heard. It is about having the power to influence decisions, challenge inequalities and shape the systems that affect our lives.
Her work reminds us that meaningful change often requires difficult conversations, courageous leadership and a willingness to do things differently.
Christabel, we honour your courage, your conviction and your unapologetic commitment to creating safer, more equitable spaces for Black women and femmes.
Thank you for challenging systems, making room for voices too often overlooked and helping build a future where Black women are not merely included but empowered to lead.
This Black History Month, we celebrate the difference you are making and the doors you are opening for those coming behind you.
Please join us in showing Christabel some love and appreciation!
