Minehead Town Council is Hiring: Head of Amenities & Assets

Our vision is for Minehead to be a vibrant and beautiful place for people to live, work and visit.

With direct control over local amenities, the Council is recruiting a senior leader to oversee the care of Minehead’s many and varied public spaces and community assets.

We are looking for someone who:

• Enjoys a high-profile and varied role with community visibility
• Has great team leadership skills and experience
• Brings calm, confident and pragmatic decision making
• Is passionate about operational development and service improvement
• Can manage budgets, and statutory requirements

We offer:

• A salary starting from £40,777 (depending upon skills and experience)
• A Local Government Pension Scheme
• A 37 hr working week with occasional evening and weekend requirements
• A friendly and supportive senior team
• Paid sickness, parental and compassionate leave
• Time off for medical appointments
• Access to HR support system

🎉 COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENT RETURNS THIS OCTOBER! 🎉

Want to find out what's happening in Minehead, share your ideas, meet local organisations or simply enjoy a chat over a cup of tea?

Join us on Tuesday 20th October, 7:30pm to 9:00pm, at Minehead Community Centre for an informal Community Engagement Event. We'll be joined by a range of local community groups and organisations, providing a great opportunity to learn more about the fantastic work taking place across the town and how you can get involved.

We're also pleased to welcome Wessex Water, who will be available throughout the evening to speak with residents and answer questions on water services, billing and wastewater matters.

We’re back at the Minehead Eye! 👋

After our temporary summer relocation, Spark iT Digital Support is back at the Minehead Eye every Thursday afternoon, 1–3pm.

Need a hand with your phone, tablet or laptop? Struggling with emails, apps, online forms or just something digital that won’t do what you want it to do?

Pop in and see our volunteer Digital Champions for friendly digital support – everyone is welcome. 🙂

🌼 It’s that time of year again! 🌼

As the seasons change, so do our floral displays. This week, our Amenities Team will be busy removing the summer bedding plants and preparing our beds for their winter displays.

📍 Starting tomorrow (Tuesday 6th October), we'll begin at Blenheim Gardens.

Rather than seeing these plants go to waste, we'll be leaving the removed bedding plants in small piles on the flower beds throughout the week. Residents are very welcome to come along and collect them free of charge and give them a new home in their own gardens.

🛍️ Just bring a bag, help yourself, and give them a new home in your garden!

🌱 Any plants not collected will remain available until Friday, after which any remaining bedding will be removed and recycled.

It's a great way to reduce waste, support local gardeners and share a little colour with the community.

A big thank you to our amenities team for all the hard work they put into keeping Minehead looking its best throughout the year.

🚧 SOMERSET COUNCIL HIGHWAY WORKS UPDATE: THE AVENUE, MINEHEAD 🚧

The following information has been provided by Somerset Council and is being shared by Minehead Town Council on their behalf to help keep residents and businesses informed.

📍 Location The Avenue, Minehead, between the Esplanade junction and Blenheim Road junction.

📅 Dates Wednesday 30 September 2026 to Tuesday 13 October 2026

⏰ Working Hours Works will take place Monday to Thursday evenings, between 6:30pm and 11:30pm.

🛣️ Nature of the Works Somerset Council will be carrying out preparation works and carriageway resurfacing along this section of highway.

🚫 Road Closure To enable the works to be undertaken safely, The Avenue will be closed to through traffic between the Esplanade and Blenheim Road junctions during working hours. Signed diversion routes will be in place.

🍽️ Weekend Stand-Down To minimise disruption, Somerset Council has advised that there will be no works on Friday, Saturday or Sunday evenings during the programme.

⚠️ Please Note Somerset Council has advised that every effort will be made to complete the works within, or ahead of, the planned programme. However, the schedule may be subject to change due to adverse weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

🌳✨ Today's the Day! ✨🌳

Join Minehead Town Council and the National Trust today from 12pm to 4pm for a celebration of nature, community, and local heritage.

Come along to help plant new fruit trees, including the locally significant Dunster Plum, enjoy apple tasting and juicing, discover local wildlife through a biodiversity bioblitz, watch tree grafting demonstrations, and take part in free Forest School activities.

This is a free, family-friendly event for all ages. Join us and help grow something special for Minehead's future! 🌱🍎
