Why do some stories only seem to wake up when the season turns and the coast goes quiet?

When the summer crowds drift away, places like Devon feel different. The wind carries more, the lanes feel longer, and old tales seem to have room to breathe again.

That is when the stories of ghosts, hauntings, and strange happenings start to feel closest to the surface. Maybe it is the silence. Maybe it is the setting. Or maybe the coast has always been listening.

Investigation No2 booked

The Walronds, Cullompton
5th December

The Walronds is a historic Grade I listed late-Tudor and early-seventeenth-century grand town house located on Fore Street in Cullompton, Devon

What supposedly haunts here.

The Lawyer’s Shadow: This is a dark, gliding male figure widely believed to be John Peter—the original builder and a former owner of the house. Because he used the main hall to meet his legal clients, his shadow is frequently reported moving silently across the hall toward the parlour.

The Mother Superior: Local legend says a group of nuns once stayed on the upper floors. The spirit of a stern Mother Superior is rumoured to have never left. Visitors reporting pacing footsteps in her former room and objects physically moving on their own.

Alice: In the upper-floor flat rooms, paranormal groups frequently seek out the spirit of a young girl named Alice, who is said to haunt the space searching for her lost rag doll.

The Witches' Coven: While not a single person, a coven is historically rumoured to have rented the property. This lore is kept alive by the visible apotropaic marks (witch marks) carved into the fireplaces and doorways to "trap" evil spirits. Investigators often attribute darting shadows and sudden, unexplained smells to this residual energy.

If I can live stream this I will further updates to follow

Ok I need your help with this video that was sent to me from someone who lives local. Watch the 1st vid which came from a ring doorbell. you will see a person coming into the property and enter the house via the door. This is the owners son take a good look around and observe everything in the clip.

When happy move onto the second clip keep watching especially by the gate and what do you see?

I have done everything to debunk this but so far I am completely baffled and still scratching my head. Next step it to reasearch where the property is and see if that comes up with anything of interest.

I would value your thoughts and comments. Do you have anything similar on your ring doorbell or any other strange clips you want to share for me to look at.

What did you miss rushing through?

A self-guided tour lets you notice the small things that a hurried visit never will. The worn stone, the tucked-away details, the stories sitting quietly in plain sight.

At your own pace, Ilfracombe starts to reveal its harbour secrets, local legends, and maritime past.

Beneath Ilfracombe, there are marks most people walk past without a second glance.

A tunnel once used by Victorian sea-bathers. A stretch of coast that still feels like it is keeping something back. And a town where smugglers, sailors, and secrets seem to have left a trace.

That is the magic of places like this. The clues are there if you know where to look.
