Welcoming children aged 2-11, we are chosen by families who travel beyond their nearest local school for excellent outcomes, high expectations, nurturing care and exceptional outdoor learning, rooted in love, peace and courage. Warkworth Church of England Primary School is a warm, welcoming and loving school in the heart of the picturesque Northumbrian village of Warkworth, educating children from 2-11. We develop children to be the very best they can be, not only giving children an academically rigorous curriculum building a deep body of knowledge, but also encouraging them to be courageous advocates for a kinder world and a better future for the rest of their lives. We develop our children to not only be articulate, hard-working individuals, but to also show our school values of Love, Peace and Courage for the rest of their lives.

At Warkworth, every maths lesson, from Year 1 to Year 6, begins with arithmetic practice.

We build maths fluency through daily practice and regular quizzes, helping children to develop speed, accuracy and confidence with key number facts.

🧠 But why is maths fluency so important?

When children can recall number facts and complete calculations efficiently, they free up their working memory to focus on new concepts, solve problems and tackle more complex mathematical challenges.

Regular retrieval practice helps to strengthen understanding, embed key skills and build the confidence children need to succeed in maths.

Small steps, consistent practice and lots of opportunities to revisit learning make a big difference! 🌟

🌿🏃‍♀️ We’re so lucky to have such an amazing outdoor play space for our KS1 and KS2 pupils!

With climbing apparatus and sports equipment available at every playtime, our playground offers so much more than just a place to play. It’s a space where children can develop their gross motor skills, build strength and coordination, challenge themselves, stay active and, most importantly, have fun with their friends! ⚽🧗‍♀️✨

We love seeing our pupils making the most of these opportunities every day! 🌟

💚 Come and see our school for yourself! Book a school tour to explore our facilities and discover what makes our school so special.

Over the last few weeks, Reception have been exploring the stories The Little Red Hen and Pumpkin Soup.
This week, the children have been working together to chop up pumpkins to make their very own soup and have also baked their own bread!
Today was tasting day, and everyone got to enjoy the delicious results of their hard work. 😋
What a perfect autumn day for a warm, yummy bowl of pumpkin soup and some freshly baked bread! 🍁🥣

Reception had a fantastic time taking part in a story and drawing session with author Alice Hemming and illustrator Nicola Slater today!
Alice brought The Pumpkin Thief to life as she read the story to us, before teaching us how to draw our very own squirrel, pumpkin and bird! 🐿️🍂🐦
A big thank you to Alice and Nicola for such a fun and creative experience. We loved getting involved and showing off our artistic skills! 🧡

We were delighted to welcome Bishop Mark to Warkworth! He described us as one of the best behaved and best singing schools he had visited - a lovely compliment for our children! 🎶

Following our exploration of Job, the children asked some tough questions: “Why do bad things happen to good people?” and “Who made God if God made everything else?” These sparked thoughtful discussion about suffering, fairness and faith, including why some people believe in God and others do not. We’re proud of our children’s confidence in tackling such big ideas and listening respectfully to different perspectives.

Our Worship Council then quizzed Bishop Mark about his life’s journey and the hardest parts of being a bishop. Thank you, Bishop Mark, for giving so generously of your time and taking our children’s questions so seriously!

We absolutely love our new banners for the school hall! 💚
Our wonderfully talented former teacher, Mrs Frater, has spent more than 90 hours bringing the Worship Council’s ideas to life through her business, Sew Simple Stuff. The care and craftsmanship in every detail are extraordinary.
Using colours from the liturgical year, the children chose the words, including those from our school vision, and symbols that reflect the school’s Christian tradition and the place we call home. There is so much to spot: the Northumberland flag, Amble’s lighthouse, the waves of the sea, St Lawrence, Warkworth’s patron saint, and the cross of St Cuthbert. A fishing boat celebrates the generations of local families whose lives and livelihoods have been shaped by the sea.
These banners give our children’s ideas a lasting place at the heart of our school. They will enrich our worship and reflection, reminding us of our community and the history we share.
A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Frater for creating something so special, and to our Worship Council for their thoughtful ideas. We will treasure these for years to come!

🐻🌿 We’re Going on a Bear Hunt! 🌿🐻
“We can’t go over it… we can’t go under it… oh no! We have to go THROUGH it!” 👣
Our little explorers headed outdoors for their very own Bear Hunt adventure, climbing, crawling, stepping and moving their way through the great outdoors! 🌳🍃
And after all that exploring, we finished our adventure by discovering a bear hiding in the woods with a little Teddy Bears’ Picnic for us! 🧸🧺💛
We love taking our learning outdoors and bringing it to life! 🌿✨ Experiences like this are not only exciting and memorable, but they also help our children develop their gross motor skills. Building strength, coordination, balance and control through big movements helps to lay the foundations for those important fine motor skills needed for writing and other classroom activities. ✏️
