Our Victorian Pool Crawl has been recognised as a finalist for Scotland's best community fundraising initiative 🏊🎉

At this year's event, 61 swimmers took on 5km across our five Victorian pools, walking 16km between each and raising an incredible £45,259 for Active Communities. The money is helping older people and people living with dementia stay active, build confidence and connect with others.

It’s Falls Awareness Week and we’re shining a light on Balanced Life, our falls prevention programme🧡

For Jennifer, Balanced Life has been life changing. After a fall and serious back injury in January 2025, she joined the programme and has made incredible progress. She went from relying on a walker to being able to pick her grandchildren up from school again.

Falls prevention is about more than reducing risk. It’s about helping people rebuild confidence, keep moving and continue doing the things that matter most to them.

To help more people feel the benefits, we’ve grown the programme from 34 to 65 weekly classes in 2025–26, increasing participation from 1,152 to 2,232 - impact that has also seen Balanced Life named as a finalist for the UK Active Healthy Communities Award 2026.

We're proud to be the first leisure trust in Scotland to introduce male incontinence bins across all of our sites, helping men affected by prostate cancer treatment and urinary incontinence use our facilities with greater confidence.

One in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, and many experience incontinence as a result of life-saving treatment. The lack of suitable disposal facilities can make people feel anxious about leaving home, leading to isolation and preventing them from taking part in the activities they enjoy.

Working alongside phs Group and Prostate Cancer UK on their Dispose with Dignity campaign, we have installed more male incontinence bins than any other organisation in Edinburgh, helping ensure men have access to the facilities they need wherever they are.

We know that being active plays an important role in both physical and mental wellbeing. That's why we're committed to removing hidden barriers that can prevent people from taking part. Everyone deserves to feel confident using our facilities, and this can make a big difference.

A milestone for washroom inclusion in Scotland.

Edinburgh Leisure is the first leisure trust in Scotland to introduce dedicated male incontinence disposal units across its sites.

1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer, and your risk doubles to one in four if you’re Black, but it can be curable if found early*. Also, 29% said they stopped going to the gym because of their incontinence and lack of bins**.

By providing practical, dignified facilities for visitors and members, Edinburgh Leisure is taking action to create more inclusive spaces where everyone can feel confident participating in sport, fitness and leisure activities.
