Elswick Community Pool and Gym is a registered charity. We run a community pool and leisure centre. Hello and welcome to Elswick Community Pool and Gym.

Re-opened in September 2019 by local activists after a four-year closure, we’re an award-winning social enterprise and registered charity powered by passionate volunteers and a professional staff team. In our lovely warm, uniquely shaped, accessible pool we offer lane and family swimming, Aquafit classes, fun inflatables, pool parties and male and female only sessions. Additionally, we run both group and one to one swimming lessons from the tiniest of toddlers with their parents up to adult classes at any age. Our Swim England and STA accredited lessons start from age 4 with friendly instructors and lots of support to ensure you enjoy learning to swim. Lastly, we also deliver RLSS lifeguard courses and host clubs for scuba diving, triathlon training and other exciting pursuits. Additionally, we have a well-equipped gym with a range of cardiovascular and weight stack machines, free weights and dumbbells. We can also help you make exercise plans and support you to achieve your goals. Most importantly, we have dedicated male and female only gym sessions. The fitness studio is where we hold a range of classes from Pilates to Zumba. We are always here to advise on what would best suit your level of fitness. Additionally, we have rooms to hire for meetings, community events and parties. Get ready to make a splash in the heart of Elswick where fitness meets community spirit!

⭐ Ella has passed her Learn to Swim Stage 3 AND Water Safety Award 1! 🏅

⭐ Kyros has successfully passed Learn to Swim Stage 3! 🏊‍♂️

We are so proud of you both and all the hard work you’ve put into your swimming lessons. Keep up the fantastic work! 🎉

💧 Did you know? We’re incorporating Water Safety Awards into our swimming programme!

At Elswick Community Pool & Gym, we believe learning to swim is about much more than just swimming lengths. It’s also about helping children develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to stay safe in and around water.

That’s why our swimmers now work towards their Water Safety Awards alongside their swimming stages:

🐠 Stage 3 – Water Safety Award 1
🐬 Stage 5 – Water Safety Award 2
🦈 Stage 7 – Water Safety Award 3

These awards help children develop essential water safety skills, including understanding different aquatic environments, recognising potential dangers and learning self-rescue techniques.

Our aim is to help every child become not only a capable swimmer, but also a confident, competent and water-aware swimmer who knows how to respond more safely in different situations.

A massive well done again to Ella and Kyros! 💙 We can’t wait to see what you achieve next! 🌊👏

🎨✨ Celebrating the creativity, voices and future of our community! ❤️

What an amazing exhibition we hosted today at Elswick Community Pool & Gym! 🏊‍♀️🎨

Organised by West End Children’s Community, in partnership with students from St. Michael’s, St. John’s, Bridgewater, Hawthorne, St. Joseph’s and St. Paul’s, today’s event showcased the fantastic artwork, ideas and projects created by young people from across our community.

But this exhibition was about so much more than art! 💡 It was an opportunity for young people to share their ideas, express what matters to them and help shape the future of the place they call home.

With the government’s Pride in Place funding on the horizon, the exhibition aimed to gather ideas and inspire conversations about where investment could make the biggest difference to our community. From creating better spaces for young people to building stronger connections and improving local opportunities, it’s so important that the voices of our residents — especially our younger generations — are heard. 🗣️❤️

We’re incredibly proud to have opened our doors for such a meaningful event and to have been part of a project that puts young people, creativity and community at its heart.

A huge thank you to West End Children’s Community, all the participating schools, the teachers and everyone involved in making today such a success. Most importantly, well done to all the talented students who shared their work and ideas with us! 👏🌟
