This consultation is being extended as there has been a huge amount of interest in it. In line with our administration's aim to increase transparency and consultation, we are keen to make sure those who want to provide feedback can.

We want to be clear that the original plan was reviewed carefully by ward members of both Jesmond and Dene and South Gosforth to improve safety, quality and flow.

If you want to view the plans and ask questions about the proposed road changes affecting Matthew Bank, Jesmond Dene Road and junctions with Osborne Road and Ilford Road, today is the first of three drop-in sessions which will be staffed by Council employees.
14 October, Jesmond Library from 4pm to 7pm.

Have your say!

The EPiC team will be carrying out a community engagement pop-up on the 28th of October in Jesmond Dene. Officers will be there to listen to any of your safety concerns.

It's great to get this kind of engagement as it helps us provide useful feedback and shape policy to improve things in Jesmond.

Community Payback has been back in our streets, sweeping the leaves and clearing the rubbish. They come to Jesmond every Thursday now (rather than Tuesday) and we often ask them to target specific areas.

This was last week's haul.

If there are areas that we haven't already reported, do let us know and we can get the Community Payback team involved!

Let the Council know what you think about this revised scheme for Jesmond Dene Road, designed to make things safer for pedestrians and cyclists whilst also improving the traffic flow.

If you want to view the plans and ask questions about the proposed road changes affecting Matthew Bank, Jesmond Dene Road and junctions with Osborne Road and Ilford Road, today is the first of three drop-in sessions which will be staffed by Council employees.

Litter around Jesmond is a big problem. James, Peter and Philip were out this morning with Keep Jesmond Clean to tidy up our streets and get Jesmond sparkling! 🌲

We're also taking firmer action on tenants, landlords and the responsibilities of both universities to sort this problem out.

We routinely report issues of littering on our streets, so let us know if there is a spot that needs cleaning.

Lastly, every Thursday, the Community Payback team comes and tidies the streets. We were the first ward in Newcastle to deploy them and we're delighted that others are following suit.

Peter, James and Philip requested a review of the junction at the top of Osborne Road over a year ago. We had received a number of complaints over the condition of the road, the lack of integration of the junction with other traffic lights on Jesmond Dene Road and importantly the absence of a pedestrian crossing. Following further review with your councillors and colleagues in the Dene and South Gosforth Ward a consultation is launching for the public to comment on the proposed changes.

Letters are being sent to neighbouring properties from the 5th of October and the papers are also available from Jesmond Library.

We're pleased that this junction is finally getting some attention, unlike the white elephants of the past which ignored the key routes for residents in Jesmond.

Today marks 100 days since Colin Ferguson was elected Leader of Newcastle City Council.

Newcastle Liberal Democrats promised you would see a difference in your communities through your front window and we've got started doing exactly that.

We've put in additional local services staff into weedkilling duties.

We've reopened our parks' cafés bringing life back into some of our much loved green spaces.

We've backed the end of the late night levy, supporting our evening economy and helping our city centre thrive.

We've started work on new and improved playgrounds in parks across the city, creating better places for children and families to enjoy.

We've invested £1 million in pothole repairs, helping make our roads safer and more reliable.

We've committed £1 million to housing repairs, improving homes and tackling longstanding issues for tenants.

We've held the first Armed Forces Day at the Civic Centre since 2022, demonstrating our pride in our city's veterans.

We raised the Pride flag 🏳️‍🌈 outside the Civic Centre, demonstrating our commitment to supporting LGBTQ+ people in the city.

And we've invested a further £1.4 million in our green spaces, fixing broken footbridges, speeding up essential maintenance and making our parks and open spaces better for everyone.

But that's just the start. We're focused on delivering real improvements, listening to you, investing in your neighbourhoods, delivering a Newcastle that works for everyone.

100 days in, plenty done, plenty more to do.
