As part of this year's Model Railway Show at Newton Abbot Library, we have two very exciting model layouts. One is a DCC test track (OO gauge) that you can test your own locos on, and the other is the Penryn layout which can be driven by you! However we predict because of this interactive element that these layouts will be busy, we have therefore taken the decision to create bookable slots for both these layouts. Both layouts will be in the same room but if you only want to focus on one of the layouts then that is not a problem. The slots are 45 minutes each and can be booked directly through the library by;
Phone- 01626 886223
Email- [email protected]
Or DM us here.
The slots are free to book and included in your admission price to the show.

Did you know?

The Railway Studies Collection at Newton Abbot Library opened in 1991. Newton Abbot was chosen as the location of the collection because of the town's significance as a railway centre.

All aspects of Britain's Railways are covered by the collection with material of interest to railway and social historians, writers, modellers, researchers and those with a more general interest. We hold and extensive collection of books, magazines, periodicals, pamphlets, photographs, postcards, slides, timetables, drawings and plans.

We also hold a comprehensive material on West Country Railways from the Great Western and London South Western/Southern periods up to the present day. In addition there is a substantial amount of information on the remainder of the UK's railway network with limited coverage of railways in Ireland.

Come along to the Railway Studies and Modellers Show on Saturday 14th November, 10am-4pm to explore our collection and view a large range of exhibitors, traders and model layouts. Entry to the show is just ÂŁ3 per person, under 16s go free!
