Machining work has re-started on the axle box brasses along with cleaning of the frames.

The big job for today was removing the saddle casting for replacement. We’ve also freed up the brake beam and the lifting link shaft.

Busy day yesterday. The front of the barrel finally came off with a little persuasion. The curved plate to replace the front frame stretcher/smokebox saddle has been delivered. We’ve also made a start on removing the drivers side cylinder. Huge thanks to Dave Horsley and Mick Hooper for their help.

Busy day today. All the rivets have been removed so the front part of the barrel can be taken off to be renewed, and ready for the boiler inspector. We’ve also moved the frames under the crane in the shed ready to take out the damaged casting.

Another couple of jobs done today. Rest of the rivet heads removed and the throat plate cleaned up and painted.
