West Northamptonshire Council has teamed up with Anglo Recycling to provide free doorstep collections for residents wishing to donate unwanted clothing, footwear, textiles, bric‑a‑brac, toys, CDs, books, kitchenware, and small household items.

Almost everything collected is reused or recycled, making the service both convenient and environmentally friendly. Residents simply book online, bag or box their items, and leave them on the doorstep — or request collection directly from the front door.

The service excludes soiled, ripped, damaged, wet, or bulky items such as furniture, duvets, pillows, mattresses, bicycles, and large appliances. Anglo Recycling manages all collections, while the council continues to handle bulky waste separately.

Funds raised from donations support local charities, helping communities across West Northamptonshire.

The National Conversation is a UK‑wide listening project asking people what they value about community life — and what kind of communities they want to build together.

Across the country, trust feels more fragile and the places that once connected us are changing. Many people feel unheard.

This initiative gives everyone the chance to share their experiences and help shape a future where we can all “live well together”.

Could You Help Launch a Brixworth Repair Shed

The Parish Council and Cllr Harris have been continuing to explore ideas to get a local Brixworth‑based Repair Shed off the ground — but we need people with skills to make it happen!

As part of our Health and Wellbeing agenda for Brixworth and surrounding communities, we’re looking at how we can create a welcoming space where residents can bring broken items to be repaired rather than replaced. It’s a great way to share knowledge, reduce waste, and connect with others.

We’re looking for volunteers to help make this a reality with skills such as:
🪡 Sewing and textiles
🔌 Electrical and small appliance repair
🚲 Bicycle maintenance
🪚 Woodwork and carpentry
💻 Computer and tech troubleshooting
🔧 General DIY and tool use
🧸 Toy repairs
🪑 Furniture repair & upcycling
🧰 Mechanical skills
📱 Mobile phone basics

If you have a skill and a bit of free time — and you’re interested in supporting this project — please leave us your details by completing the form [here]

We’d love to get this project moving forward with your help and make the Brixworth Repair Shed a reality for our community.

🌼 No Mow May Returns to Brixworth! 🌼

Supporting wildlife, boosting biodiversity, and keeping our green spaces safe.

Brixworth Parish Council is once again proud to support No Mow May, the national campaign encouraging councils and communities to let selected grassed areas grow naturally throughout May. Allowing wildflowers and grasses to flourish provides an essential early‑season food source for bees, butterflies and other pollinators — the small creatures that keep our ecosystems healthy.

This simple change makes a big difference to local biodiversity, and we’re pleased to play our part.

🌱 What We’re Doing in Brixworth
Throughout May, you’ll notice that some verges and green spaces around the village will be left to grow longer than usual. These areas have been chosen because they are:

Safe to leave unmown
Environmentally beneficial
Valuable for pollinators and wildlife

⚽ What We’re Still Maintaining
Your safety and access to recreation remain our priority.

Throughout May, we will continue to cut and maintain:
Recreational grounds
Sports pitches
Play areas
Parks and high‑use public spaces
Any areas where visibility or safety could be affected

This ensures that all facilities remain safe, accessible and ready for use.

🦋 Why No Mow May Matters
Letting grass grow for just a few weeks:

Increases wildflowers and nectar sources
Supports bees, butterflies and other pollinators
Helps birds and small mammals
Improves soil health
Boosts local biodiversity with minimal cost

Even small patches of longer grass can have a big environmental impact.

🌼 How You Can Join In
Residents can take part by:

Leaving a corner of your garden unmown
Planting pollinator‑friendly flowers
Avoiding pesticides
Sharing photos of wildlife you spot during May

Every little helps — and it all adds up.

💬 Working Together for a Greener Brixworth
We’re grateful to everyone who supports this initiative and helps nature thrive in our parish.

Let’s give wildlife a helping hand this spring. 🌼
