Onley Play Area Project

We are delighted to announce that we have secured a grant of ยฃ20,000 from The National Lottery Community Fund towards the Onley Play Area Project. We are hoping to raise ยฃ150,000 in total to create an exciting new play area for Onley. We are awaiting the outcome of two large grant applications which will help us meet this target.

How You Can Help: To meet this ambitious target which will give the children of our Parish the very best play area we need your help. Our grant applications are more likely to be successful if we show community need and support. To show your support please consider writing a letter/email or recording a short video and sending it to our Clerk, telling us why you would like a new play area and why you think it would be good for our community. Children are welcome to send us a picture of their dream play area.

You can also support us by helping with our fundraising โ€“ an amazing ยฃ1,690 was raised by Onley residents at their Summer Fete!

Please consider donating to our crowdfunder page: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/qr/Dy48EZZy?utm_campaign=sharemodal&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=shortlink

Please be aware that East Midlands Ambulance Service is currently experiencing significant demand on their service

โš ๏ธ Our service is currently experiencing exceptionally high demand and colleagues are working tirelessly to care for patients across the region. Before calling 999, please consider whether one of the following services may be more appropriate:

๐Ÿ’Š Your local pharmacy for advice, minor illnesses and many common conditions.

๐Ÿ“ฑ NHS 111 online or by phone if you need urgent medical advice and are unsure where to go.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€โš•๏ธ Your GP practice for routine or ongoing healthcare needs.

๐Ÿฅ Urgent treatment centres and minor injury units for illnesses and injuries that require prompt attention but are not life-threatening.

This helps keep our emergency ambulances available for people who are reported to be in a life-threatening condition. For example, when someone is unconscious, not breathing, experiencing a cardiac arrest or stroke.

The above application will be decided by West Northants Planning Committee on 17th September.

The Planning Officerโ€™s report is recommending that the planning committee refuse the application, mainly on the grounds of the site access route & the impact that the building of further bunds will have on the Countryside. Even though this is very positive, the decision of the committee cannot be guaranteed as members do not have to follow Planning Officers' advice.

The Parish Council will be objecting to the application at the Planning Committee meeting. Members of the public cannot directly address the planning committee at the meeting but the more local people that attend the stronger the case is for the committee to refuse the application.

The meeting is being held in Meeting Room G01 at One Angel Square, Angel Street, Northampton, NN1 1ED. It is due to start at 17:00 but as there are 5 other planning applications (not related to our Parish) to be decided upon before ours , West Northants Council has suggested that we advise Parishioners that it would not be sensible to arrive before at least 6pm.

The Parish Council would encourage as many Parishioners as possible to attend the meeting to show the strength of feeling within the community regarding this application.

Please contact Faith Gorman (Chair, Barby & Onley Parish Council) if you need further information or would like to participate in a car/lift share to & from the committee meeting - whether you need a lift or are able to provide a lift for others.
