Today I had the huge privilege of walking with parents from Dallington Grange to Kingsthorpe College.
This is one of the schools the Council says kids can walk to since the scrapping of the plans for a new school at Dallington Grange.
So we walked 3.5 miles - starting at Poppyfield Way - taking a short cut across the fields to Kingsthorpe, then the hefty climb up Boughton Green Road.
Bravo for the children who walked and waved their banners.
But the idea they could do it twice a day, every day in all weather and in the winter dark, is a nonsense.
That new secondary school at Dallington Grange has to happen. And the Council and Government have to make sure it does

Checking out the route for Sunday’s School Walk from Dallington Grange to Kingsthorpe College.
West Northants Council scrapped plans for a new secondary school on the estate and said parents could send their children to Kingsthorpe College - which they said is in walking distance.
Very scenic, over 2 miles, through fields, past horses. We’ll be walking it from 12 to 2 pm this Sunday 13. Join us!

Thanks so much to Rev Roger Woods for enabling this meeting to take place at the Church on the Heath for Kings Heath Residents impacted by the developments at Dallington Grange. Due to the refurbishment of the church, timing and capacity are limited AND YOU NEED TO BRING YOUR OWN CHAIRS.

This meeting is in response to concerns raised with me about the impact of traffic, and lack of infrastructure, especially schools and health services for the new development.

Fly-tipping and rubbish clearance are such a huge concern and it’s great that the Labour government has brought in new tough rules. But it relies on local councils to enforce them and the Reform administration on West Northants has been dragging its feet.
