We've bought two copies of this wonderful introduction to the New Testament along with the accompanying workbook: they'll be available at the Bouverie Court Library as soon as we are able to re-open.
Do you have a desire to dig deeper into the New Testament and understand its original context? If so, this book is for you.
This authoritative textbook offers an explanation of scholarly approaches to understanding the bible followed by several chapters on the worldview of Near Eastern cultures. This may sound a little dry but armed with this knowledge, the radicalness of Jesus’ actions and resurrection can be more fully appreciated. Each chapter focusing on a New Testament book draws together an understanding its context and origin of alongside a description of its key themes and bigger picture. The book concludes with an essay on the importance of New Testament for today.
The book is beautifully produced with many coloured pictures, maps and charts and is a pleasure to handle.
The book is part of a Zondervan Academic series and is accompanied by a workbook, DVDs, audio lectures (available separately) and free online resources.
