From caring for siblings, overcoming adversity, or volunteering their time – there are so many reasons to nominate a young person.

❗️❗️Apprenticeship and Recruitment event next Tuesday 10th February at the Civic Centre in Arnold ❗️❗️

Come along to an Apprenticeship and Recruitment event in Arnold next month, offering access to job vacancies, apprenticeships, training opportunities and careers advice.

The event, organised by Gedling Borough Council in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions, will take place on Tuesday 10 February, from 2pm to 5pm, at the Civic Centre, Arnot Hill Park, Arnold (NG5 6LU).

More than 20 employers, training providers and support organisations will be in attendance, including representatives from Nottinghamshire Emergency Services, the Army Reserves, the RAF, Inspire, Jigsaw Homes and Nottinghamshire County Council.

There is no need to book, and you are welcome to drop in at any point during the afternoon to explore the opportunities available and speak directly with employers and advisors.

The event coincides with National Apprenticeship Week, which celebrates the positive impact apprenticeships have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy.

We plan to modernise leisure facilities and create vibrant, accessible spaces that promote healthier lifestyles, better serve community needs and ensure sustainability. We want your thoughts on the proposals for change.

The Summer Jobs Fair is a great opportunity to speak to local and national employers and organisations that offer apprenticeships, courses and advice to help you find work.

☀️ Staying safe in hot weather

It looks like we’re in for some high temperatures this week. While many people enjoy the summer heat, hot weather can cause older people, young children, those with health conditions, and pets, to become unwell through overheating, dehydration, heat exhaustion and heatstroke.

Stay safe in hot weather by:

🕛 Keeping out of the sun at the hottest time of the day, between 11am and 3pm.

🚶 Doing any physical activity (for example exercise or walking the dog) during times of the day when it is cooler, such as the morning or evening.

🌡️ Keeping your home cool by closing windows and curtains in rooms that face the sun.

👒 Covering up with suitable clothing, such as an appropriate hat and sunglasses, seeking shade and applying sunscreen when you go outside.

💧 Drinking plenty of fluids.

📞 Checking on family, friends and neighbours who may be at higher risk of becoming unwell.

ℹ️ Knowing the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, and what to do if you or someone else has them.
