René House CIC provides Supported Accommodation in the Nottinghamshire Area.

A huge thank you to Archimedia Accounts for their incredibly generous donation to René House CIC. 🖤

Support like this helps us go beyond simply providing accommodation, allowing us to continue supporting residents through wellbeing activities, life skills sessions, practical support and day-to-day guidance from our team.

As a CIC, this type of additional support isn’t fully funded, so donations like this genuinely make a real difference to the people we work with across Nottinghamshire.

We’re incredibly grateful for your support and for choosing to support the work we do.

As we touched on last week, there’s a hidden gap in the homelessness system.

Organisations like ours help people in crisis, and we support them to rebuild their lives.

But when they’re ready to move on?
Most can’t access private renting.

So they stay stuck, or risk falling back into homelessness.

Meanwhile, our waiting lists grow and emergency referrals get turned away.

If we want a system that actually works, we can’t just react to crisis – we need to focus on what comes next too.

We’ve explained this properly in our latest blog if you’d like to learn more. ↓

What does it actually take to support someone who’s experienced homelessness and help them to live independently?

Well, this is how we do it. 👉🏾

👀 LOCAL ARTISTS – WE NEED YOUR HELP 👀

As we continue bringing The Hub to life, we’d love to create an illustrated feature wall, a bit like this 👇🏽

We’re looking for a local artist, painter, or illustrator to help us design and paint a storytelling wall in our branding — combining hand-drawn line illustrations, inspirational words, and subtle impact-led details.

If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, or you know someone who might be a great fit, we’d love to chat with you!

We’re incredibly grateful to announce that we have been selected for KJM Painting & decorating's Community Refresh Project 🙌🏼

A huge thank you to Kyle for choosing René House and for wanting to give back to the community in such a meaningful way — it means the absolute world to us.

This hands-on support will play a huge part in helping us kick-start the work needed to transform The Hub, something we’re really keen to get up and running for our residents and the wider community.

We’re really looking forward to seeing it come to life over the next few weeks 👀

Make sure to follow Kyle’s page to see updates and everything he’ll be working on at The Hub!

We had a lovely visit recently from the Nottingham Trent University students who supported René House as part of their fundraising project with Impact People & Change 🖤

They came into the office to meet with Theo and Shani, chat through how it all went, ask more about our work and impact, and share what motivated them to choose René House in the first place.

It’s always great to meet the people behind the support and hear first-hand about the effort that’s gone into it, especially from the younger generation.

Fundraising like this makes a real difference to CIC organisations like ours, helping us continue delivering the support our residents rely on every day.

Thank you again for taking the time to come in and for all your support guys 👏🏼

Something we’d love to do more of for our residents, especially with The Hub opening soon, is practical workshops.

Because beyond the housing side of what we do, it’s these everyday skills that will help to break the cycle of homelessness long after someone leaves us.

We’re talking about things like:

⬟ CV writing and interview skills
⬟ Employability and job pathways
⬟ Digital and tech confidence
⬟ Budgeting and financial literacy
⬟ Cooking, nutrition and everyday living
⬟ Confidence building and communication
⬟ Understanding bills, utilities and managing a home
⬟ Access to therapy and wellbeing support

If you’re an organisation that could help fund these workshops, or if you offer training or support in any of these areas, we’d love to hear from you.

Whilst we do a lot to set our residents up for success when they move on into their own tenancies, there’s always more that could be done.

With the right funding, we could go further:

• More consistent support during their time with us
• Ongoing support after move-on
• Quicker access to specialist services when they’re needed
• More practical, hands-on workshops
• More resources and tools to support day-to-day independence
• Stronger partnerships with organisations that can open up further opportunities

Because the better the support now, the better the outcome later. 🙌🏿
