• Working in partnership with Clifton & The Meadows Primary Care Network.
• Support people following a cancer diagnosis
• Deliver Cancer Care Reviews & Holistic Needs Assessments
• Work across GP practices, communities and the voluntary sector

A huge thank you to Ella and Juliet for delivering engaging, interactive talks at the Ashfield District Council Well-being Day on 28th January, raising awareness of our service and the importance of screening and early diagnosis.
We spoke to 76 staff on the day and it was fantastic to see five people interested in becoming Cancer Champions in their workplace to support anyone affected by Cancer. 💙👏

Self Help UK is proud to deliver the Macmillan Deaf Cancer Support UK Project, a UK-wide initiative providing emotional and practical support for Deaf individuals living with cancer and Deaf carers. Our mission is to reduce isolation and improve equity and inclusion in cancer care by creating accessible peer support networks and advocacy services.

➡️ Communications and Marketing Manager
Salary: £30,000 per annum
Working hours: 37.5 hours per week

This role will lead creative and strategic campaigns to raise awareness and engagement across the UK. We’re looking for someone with strong marketing skills and cultural awareness to help us reach Deaf people living with cancer.

Salary: £27,000 per annum
Working hours: 37.5 hours per week
Responsible to: Project Manager
Appointment type: Permanent
Location: 21-23 Pelham Road, Carrington, Nottingham NG5 1AP or home based.
This role will develop, coordinate, and sustain peer support groups for Deaf people affected by cancer. You’ll work closely with the Deaf community, volunteers, and partner organisations to ensure accessible and culturally appropriate services.

The Self Help UK office will be closed over the festive period. Our last day in the office will be Friday 19th December, and we will return on Monday 5th January.
We would like to wish all of our service users, staff, volunteers, partners and supporters peace and comfort this Christmas.
We also know that for many, this time of year isn't full of cheer. The holidays can be a source of stress, loneliness, or a painful reminder of loved ones lost. If this season is difficult for you, please know you are not alone.
The Macmillan Support Line will be open throughout the Christmas/New Year period, including Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day, from 8am – 8pm, for their Cancer Information and Support Team and for their Cancer Information Nurse Specialists. Their Welfare Benefits Service will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and will resume to their normal working hours of 8am - 6pm from Monday 29th December.

The Nottinghamshire Cancer Carers Online Support Group is a free online group open to anyone in Nottinghamshire who is caring for a family member, friend, or neighbour affected by cancer. Whether you're new to caregiving or have been supporting someone for years, this group offers a chance to connect with others who truly understand the challenges and rewards of the role.
The group offers:
A welcoming space to share experiences and emotions.
Practical advice and tips from fellow carers.
Emotional support and encouragement from a compassionate community.
