We are once again spreading joy this Easter by launching our egg collection for the fourth year in a row 🍫🐰

You can now donate Easter Eggs to Highfields Fire Station before Sunday 29 March, as well as Tesco in Hucknall and Morrisons in Gamston.

Following the RTC on Melton Road, Normanton On The Wolds, firefighters on scene have been complimented by a paramedic, who attended for East Midlands Ambulance Service.

She said: "I was absolutely amazed at the incredible teamwork, leadership and collaboration at this incident. All team members demonstrated an unwavering calm and professional approach - I was completely inspired and in awe by their practice. Thank you for all you do."

Just some of the toys that have been dropped off to Highfields over the past couple of days for our Toy Appeal. Thank you so much, we can’t wait to deliver these to Charities in our local community next week! There’s going to be some very happy children on Christmas morning 😊🎅🏼

Last four days to donate, if you could please drop off any brand new toys and gift sets to your local fire station to help families in need this Christmas. Here at Highfields we particularly need gifts for teenagers (boys and girls) if you could drop them off before Tuesday, thank you ❤️

This week White Watch carried out entanglement drills whilst in BA, with their vision obscured.
Firefighters entered the scenario through a smoke curtain, meaning the scenario was a complete surprise to each wearer. The brief was that there was a casualty that needed rescuing, but there had been reports the ceiling had come down exposing wiring.
Upon reaching the casualty they were extricated back down the same confined space to the safety of the door!
It is essential we are able to use and access our equipment on our BA sets even in the dark and tight spaces, and training scenarios such as this ensure we are always prepared and confident in doing so.

Yesterday Eastwood Fire Station were here covering while our Highfields Firefighters were out training. We were visited by When You Wish Upon a Star charity - we donated some Teddy Bears for the children attending their magical Winter Wonderland event. The charity is one of many we hope to donate children’s toys to this Christmas through our annual Toy Appeal; please keep dropping gifts off to your local Fire Station before December 8th ❤️

That’s a wrap on the UKRO Rope Rescue Challenge 2025.

After another intense day of scenarios - our Highfields team has completed the competition. While we didn’t take home the trophy this time (Congratulations London Fire Brigade), the experience has been invaluable.

Events like this allow us to learn, test our skills in unfamiliar environments, and share ideas with rope rescue teams from across the country — all of which helps us improve how we operate in the real world.

A huge thank you to Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service for hosting, and well done to all the teams who took part.

We’re heading home proud, motivated, and better prepared for the next challenge.
