Halloween 🎃 | Make it a treat for everyone 👻

Have a good time this Saturday, just remember that not everyone celebrates Halloween and may not want people coming to their door trick or treating.

Some people, particularly the elderly and vulnerable, may get worried or even frightened if strangers are continually calling at their door during the evening. It can also disturb babies, young children and nervous dogs and cats.

So please respect those who don’t want to take part in trick or treating, and stick to areas and people you know.

If you welcome trick or treaters, or if you’d rather they didn’t come knocking, you can download and print posters for your window that lets them know either way from our website 👉 https://orlo.uk/Pu6T6

There’s a colour “Sorry – no trick or treat” poster, and a black and white printer friendly version. You’ll also find a colour “Welcome Halloween callers with children in costume” poster, and a version of that to colour in.

Retailers: you can also download a poster which lets people know that the sale of eggs and flour will be at your discretion.

Warning 💊 | Dangerous fake weight loss drugs and other medicines

Tempting as it may be to save money, using fake online pharmacies puts you at risk of serious harm – check that any pharmacy you use is legitimate at the link at the end of this post.

Fake online pharmacies can dispense medicines that are inappropriate, ineffectively dosed, or even counterfeit. These counterfeit medicines can include seriously dangerous substances such as cement and even arsenic.

It's vitally important to make sure that any pharmacy you use is registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.

How to check an online pharmacy:
1. Find the pharmacy's GPhC registration number on its website.
2. Search for the pharmacy on the official GPhC register.
3. If the pharmacy is not listed, do NOT use it.

LATEST NEWS | Two men have been sentenced following offences linked to hunt activity in Devon, including the illegal hunting of a fox with dogs and incidents involving careless driving and disorderly behaviour towards hunt monitors.

Jason Marles, aged 44, from Chulmleigh, appeared before Exeter Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 23 September where he pleaded guilty to hunting a wild mammal with dogs.

Marles was ordered to pay a £500 fine, and £285 in costs.

During the same hearing, Thomas Bounsall, aged 32, from Princetown, was sentenced after admitting offences of careless driving and intentional disorderly behaviour relating to two separate incidents involving hunt monitors in Devon.

Bounsall was fined a total of £2,185 including associated court costs.

Sergeant Tom Ottley said: "With the start of the hunting season approaching, we recognise that hunting is an emotive issue which can generate strong feelings within the community.

"Devon & Cornwall Police takes all reports of suspected illegal hunting seriously and we will investigate offences where evidence is available.

"If you witness live illegal hunting activity taking place, please report it to us immediately by calling 999 and, where it is safe to do so, we would also encourage people to capture footage or other evidence which may assist any subsequent investigation.

"We would always remind members of the public not to place themselves at risk while gathering evidence."

Anyone who has witnessed illegal hunting activity or anti-social behaviour (such as trespass, harassment or hounds out of control) is encouraged to report it to Police by filling in a form on the force website or by calling 101.

If a crime is happening now, always call 999.

🔒🏡🚗 Keep Your Home and Vehicle Safe and Secure 🚗🏡🔒

A few simple security checks can make a big difference in preventing crime and protecting your property.

At Home: ✅ Close and lock all windows before going to bed and when leaving the house. ✅ Secure sheds, garages and side gates. ✅ Keep keys out of sight and away from doors and windows. ✅ If you're going away, ask a trusted neighbour to keep an eye on your property and use timer switches to make your home look occupied.

For Your Vehicle: ✅ Always lock your vehicle, even if you're only leaving it for a few minutes. ✅ Remove keys from the vehicle and never leave them unattended. ✅ Don't leave valuables, bags, tools or electrical items on display. ✅ Close all windows and sunroofs when parked. ✅ Park in a well-lit area whenever possible. ✅ Double-check that your vehicle is locked before walking away.

Many thefts are opportunist crimes, targeting properties and vehicles that have been left unsecured. Taking a moment to lock up before you leave the house or go to bed can help reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime.

👀 See something suspicious? Please report it.

🔐🏡🚗

Tonight's security checklist: ✔ Doors locked ✔ Windows secure ✔ Car locked ✔ Valuables removed from view ✔ Keys stored safely

A few seconds to check could save a lot of heartache later.

INSPECT tyre pressure, tread depth and for cracks or tears before setting out
PREPARE for all weather conditions…it may be very hot, or we may have rain and thunderstorms

We’ll add that SPEED limits are there for your safety, they are not a target. Drive within the limit and to prevailing road, weather and traffic conditions. So, TRIPS: as easy to remember as TRIP.
