🌙 HOW TO USE A PENDULUM 🌙
I thought I’d start putting together a few simple little how to guides for anyone who is new to spiritual tools or simply wants to learn a little more.
So, let’s start with the pendulum.
A pendulum is most commonly used for receiving simple yes, no or unclear/not yet answers. It can be a crystal, metal or another weighted object suspended from a chain.
Before you begin
Sit somewhere comfortable and quiet. Hold the top of the chain gently between your thumb and finger, allowing the pendulum to hang freely.
Try to keep your hand relaxed and still.
First, learn YOUR pendulum’s movements
Don’t assume that clockwise automatically means yes or side-to-side automatically means no. Pendulums can respond differently for different people.
Start by saying:
“Show me YES.”
Allow the pendulum to begin moving naturally and notice the direction it takes.
Let it become still again and ask:
“Show me NO.”
Again, watch the movement.
Then ask:
“Show me UNCLEAR or NOT YET.”
You now have your pendulum’s basic responses.
Test it
Before asking anything important, ask a couple of questions where you already know the answer.
For example:
“Is my name Gail?”
Then ask something you know is false.
This helps you become familiar with how clearly your pendulum responds.
Asking your questions
Pendulums work best with questions that can be answered simply.
Rather than asking:
“What is going to happen with my relationship?”
Ask:
“Is this relationship likely to move forward?”
Ask one question at a time and allow the pendulum to settle completely before asking the next.
Try not to repeatedly ask the same question because you didn’t like the first answer! 😂 The more emotionally invested we become in getting a particular answer, the easier it is for our own tiny unconscious hand movements to influence the pendulum.
And that is important to remember.
A pendulum is a lovely intuitive and reflective tool, but it shouldn’t be treated as something that makes decisions for you or guarantees the future. Use it for guidance, curiosity and developing your own intuition rather than handing your choices over to it.
Most importantly, enjoy learning how yours responds. The more relaxed you are with it, the easier it becomes to recognise your own pendulum’s movements. 🌙✨
