With Storm Austen bringing strong winds and heavy rain across the South West today, and Storm Boelo expected to bring further unsettled weather across the UK this weekend, we're encouraging our clients, Service Providers and local communities to take extra care.

Here are a few simple reminders to help you stay safe:

🏡 Stay safe indoors – Avoid unnecessary journeys during severe weather and keep away from exposed coastal areas.

🔦 Prepare for power cuts – Keep a torch, charged mobile phone, batteries and essential supplies close by.

💊 Keep essentials handy – Make sure you have enough medication, drinking water, food and anything else you may need.

📱 Stay connected – Check in on family, friends and neighbours, particularly those living alone or who may need additional support.

💙 Don't be afraid to ask for help – If you need assistance, reach out to someone you trust rather than putting yourself at risk.

A moment to remember. A light to celebrate a life. 🌟

Christmas can be a particularly difficult time when someone you love is no longer here.

Our Light Up a Life remembrance services offer a special opportunity to come together, remember those we've lost and celebrate the love and memories that remain.

Whether your loved one was cared for by St Luke's or not, everyone is welcome to join us.

This year's is on Tuesday 15 December 2026 at Minster Church of St Andrew, Royal Parade, Plymouth

Service times are 1.30pm, 3.30pm, 5.30pm and 7.30pm

All services are free, open to everyone regardless of faith.

It's moments like these that remind us how special it is to be part of someone's journey.

Friends Helping at Home is now officially a member of the British Franchise Association (BFA)!

It’s another exciting milestone in our journey and something we’re incredibly proud to celebrate with our whole network.

Since Friends Helping at Home began, we’ve continued to grow while keeping the same thing at the heart of everything we do, giving people more choice, flexibility and control over their care and support.

Becoming a BFA member marks another exciting step forward as we continue to welcome new people, reach more communities and grow the Friends Helping at Home network across the UK. 🏡💙
