A mix of urban and rural, there’s plenty to do in Renfrewshire including major shopping at Braehead, country parks, an indoor snow centre, historic buildings, a variety of cycle and walking routes and local town and village shopping.

Children at Bridge of Weir ELCC celebrated being the first Renfrewshire nursery to achieve a Reading Schools accreditation. Author Alastair Chisholm read the children a story, and even Bookbug came for a visit.

Barshaw Gala Day returns on Saturday 20 June. Come along for an afternoon of family fun and celebrate Scotland’s Summer of Sport.

The event starts at 12pm and includes:
• funfair and inflatables
• a great line up of local entertainment from the live stage
• stalls from local traders, community groups and charities
• sports themed arts and crafts
• face painting
• walkabout acts
• come-and-try sports sessions (such as football, American football, rugby, hockey and basketball)
• classic school sports day challenge (sign up on our website in advance)

Plus, don’t miss special guest Finnie! The Glasgow 2026 mascot will be posing for photographs and celebrating all things sport ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

The event is open from 12pm to 5pm. TrustFord Glasgow sponsor the event.

Parking within the park is limited and designated for blue badge holders. Please consider using public transport, walk, cycle or wheel to the event.

Children are thriving at Bushes Primary School. Inspectors praised the school’s leadership and the consistently high levels of attainment and achievement. They also said both school and nursery share a clear vision of success.

Wellbeing support has been praised at St Charles’ Primary School, Paisley. Staff and pupils are described as friendly, welcoming and kind by education inspectors. They also said the school has strong, trusting relationships.

Renfrew Gala Day is back on Sunday 7 June.

Starting at 12pm, there will be an exciting range of family fun to celebrate Scotland’s Summer of Sport.

The Gala Day Parade will leave Trinity High School at 12pm. It includes local community groups and professional performers.

In Robertson Park, there will be:
• funfair and inflatables
• great local entertainment across two live stages
• stalls from local traders, community groups and charities
• workshops with the Scottish BMX School
• activities with StreetStuff
• tennis taster sessions
• classic school sports day challenges
• face painting
• tearoom in the McMaster Centre.

The event is open from 12pm to 5pm in Robertson Park. TrustFord Glasgow sponsor the event.
