Clocks go back one hour on Sunday, 25 October 2026 at 02:00 BST, returning the country from British Summer Time (BST) to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
The sunrise tomorrow will be an hour earlier (relative to the clock), but unfortunately, this also means that the sunsets will also be an hour earlier.

LONG ROCK LEVEL CROSSING TEMPORARY CLOSURE
Network Rail has announced that they have closed the level crossing at Long Rock until Sunday 25 October.

Network Rail say: "Owing to the heavy rain and high winds in the Penzance area, we've temporarily closed Long Rock level crossing to keep everyone safe.

"As a result, there's no access over the railway to Long Rock car park and the coastal path. We're sorry for any inconvenience.

"The crossing is expected to reopen at midday on Sunday, 25 October. We'll review conditions and only reopen the crossing when it's safe to do so."

STORM AUSTEN POWER CUTS:
There is currently a number of properties in the Heamoor and Gulval area without power. National Grid are aware of the issue and estimate power will be back on by 08:00.
Update from National Grid: "We know you're without power. We were alerted at 5:53am this morning and our engineers are working to get your electricity back on as quickly as possible. We're sorry for the disruption.

We give you our best estimate for when your power will be back on, based on what we know at the time. Times might change if we face unexpected challenges getting to the fault. These times show when the last person in the area will have power back - most of you will be reconnected before this.

We estimate that power will be restored by 8:00am this morning"

Storm Austen is causing disruption across Cornwall this morning, with road closures, power cuts and changes to school opening times.

Several roads are closed due to fallen trees, flooding and traffic incidents. The A30 eastbound near Avers Roundabout is closed by police due to an overturned lorry. Other closures include the A374 at Polbathic, the A39 between Playing Place and Truro, and Bodmin Road in St Austell.

We’re aware of further reports of road incidents. Please take extra care if you must travel and avoid affected areas.

There are currently 15 power cut incidents affecting 6,980 properties across Cornwall. Report a power cut at any time by calling 105.

Multiple schools have confirmed closures or late openings.

Parents and carers should check messages from their child’s school or its website before travelling, as arrangements may change.
