We made cracking progress with the turf lifting. There will be machinery arriving on site tomorrow (Day 2) to assist with the digging to get us to the level of one of the most notable features identified last year by the GPR survey.

We’ve already found top soil finds - mostly 19th and 20th century which include pottery shards, handblown glass, portions of clay pipes, etc

We’ve a long way to go yet, but it’s been an exciting day.

We have two ‘open days’ on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 September, where there’ll be historic walking tours and site chats with members of the project team.
