🎃 Finished with your pumpkins this spooky season?

Remember to pop your leftovers in your food waste caddy for recycling rather than your waste bin.

If they won’t fit in your caddy, you can leave them out on top of it on collection day.

There are a huge amount of fraudsters online advertising pets and requesting a deposit before seeing them or having them delivered. This is a very well know scam that unfortunately many people are still falling for. Please research the breeder fully and make sure you see the pet in person before handing over any money. There are also many, many animals in rescues that are desperate for a home. You can find details of your nearest rescues online

⚠️Stay alert to fraudsters advertising pets online that may not be real. Protect yourself and buy safely online:

ℹ️ Social media posts are a common way for fraudsters to advertise fake pets for sale.

✅Always arrange to see the pet in-person before sending money.

Please be vigilant when contacted by anyone online and follow the advise in the post below

🌐 Cyber Security Awareness Month | Week 5: Think Before You Share

How much could someone learn about you from your social media profiles?

What we share online can reveal more information than we realise. Cyber criminals can use publicly available information to impersonate people, guess passwords, answer security questions and make scams appear more convincing.

Before posting, consider whether you're sharing more than intended:
✅ Review your privacy settings regularly
✅ Be careful about sharing your location in real time
✅ Limit the amount of personal information you share online
✅ Think about who can see your posts
✅ Only accept friend or follower requests from people you know and trust

Remember, once something is posted online, it can be difficult to remove completely.

A little extra thought before posting can help protect your privacy, identity and security.

📲 Challenge yourself this week: Review your social media privacy settings and remove any personal information that doesn't need to be publicly available.

Some great news from NCC recycling. They are planning to roll out their collection of soft plastics starting shortly and carrying on in to 2027. You will receive a handy leaflet to let you know what you can recycle and a roll of clear bags to put inside you red bag. Read the post below for more information and find out what you will be able to recycle 😃🗑♻

Binfluencers, assemble!

From mid-November, we’ll begin collecting plastic bags and wrapping from the kerbside as part of our weekly recycling collections.

The new service will be initially introduced to around 10,000 households, before being rolled out across the rest of the city in 2027.

It will mean items such as carrier bags, bread bags, crisp packets and multipack wrapping get recycled into new products.

When we roll the service out to your home, we’ll deliver to you a roll of clear sacks and an information leaflet explaining what to do.

Visit our soft plastics collection webpage for all of the information you need.
