It’s Saturday! The start of the weekend! Everyone have a great day!

To keep the positive vibes going, we want to share a positive post to kick the weekend off right! The photo below was taken recently at the new play equipment at Broadmanor play area, which was completed earlier in the year. Since the equipment’s opening many have enjoyed its use and it has brought cheer to the people of Pocklington and visitors to the area.

We are proud to be able to bring positive and cheerful projects to better our community. We could not have done this without the support or grant funding from East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Have a lovely weekend!

With our Fireworks Display not that far away, we thought it was only fair to release a little sneak peek into the vendors attending this year. While some are returning crowd pleasers, we have new additions set to appear as well.

This year’s food vendors will be Dowse Catering Pick ‘n’ Mix and Gyros, Waffletastic, Slice Twenty-Six and KS Catering.

This year’s beverages vendors will be: The Coffee Trail and The Yorkshire Tipsy Trailer.

And for those of you who have read through to the very very end...tune in tomorrow at 12pm for a special announcement!

With there being just over one month until the first PTC event of the year, Pocklington Town Council are making the following appeal.

We would like to ask for volunteers to assist with this year’s Fireworks Display on Thursday 5th November 2026 and the Christmas Festival on Sunday 22nd November 2026. Volunteers will be asked to act as stewards for attending members of the community, to ensure barriers are maintained, to assist with traffic control measures etc. Any help from members of our community would be greatly and deeply appreciated.

If you would be interested in volunteering for the above events, please contact [email protected] for further information.

Thank you in advance!

As some of you may remember, this year will see the return of one of our much-loved annual tradition. I am of course referring to The Elf Trail!

This year, we are expanding our much-loved Pocklington tradition, which will run from Sunday 22nd November until Thursday 31st December. To aid in spreading the Christmas cheer, we will be partnering with Pocklington Arts Centre to create a map of the participating businesses. The elves will be hidden with a secret letter, which entrants will need to find as they follow the elves sparkling glow. The letters will then form a word or phrase relating to this year’s PAC Christmas Show. How exciting!

This year we have asked both participating and non-participating businesses if they would very generously donate prizes towards this year’s ‘Merry Christmas from Pocklington’ hamper. Due to the generous support and community spirit from our local businesses, we have decided to have not just one…not just two…but three hampers! One for the winning entrant and two runners up.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the businesses who have donated an item towards this year’s trail. These hampers will bring Christmas cheer into our community and will promote what Pocklington has to offer, so thank you from the bottom of our hearts. All our hampers will be shared soon, along with the business linked to the items inside.

If there are any businesses who would like to donate an item towards the hampers mentioned above, please contact [email protected].

We have received the following update from the Burnby Hall Community Trust regarding the signing of the lease for Burnby Hall:

'The Trustees of Pocklington Community Trust are delighted to announce the signing of a 125-year lease between the Trust and Pocklington Town Council for the whole of Burnby Hall and the adjoining community hall, effective from Thursday 1st of October 2026. This follows three years of protracted negotiations between the Town Council and ERYC.

Pocklington Community Trust will be working in partnership with Pocklington Town Council to secure the necessary funding to complete the building refurbishment. The Trust plan a phased redevelopment and reopening of Burnby Hall and the first phase of this ambitious multi-year project to repurpose Burnby Hall as a Community Centre and Museum is already under way.'

The lease to the Community Trust ensures that this local landmark remains open for the use of our community for years to come. If you would like to receive updates on what the Trust are up to, as well as seeing what is happening in the community hall, please visit their website https://burnbyhall.org.uk/.
